Just because you don't touch doesn't mean it isn't cheating. Would you want your wife to think or do the same things even if she doesn't consumate the deal? I look at it like this, if I wouldn't want my SO to do it (physically, emotionally, etc.) then it isn't right for me to do it. However you are trying to justify it in your head is just a way of not feeling guilty.
I have a lot of friends I consider best friends. People I've known for a very long time and can count on for anything.
I can think of probably 3 people that at one time or another were considered to be a "best friend". The first one, I still talk to, but it has been awhile and since I got married, I don't ever see him much (however, I wasn't really doing much with him before I got married, either). We were best friends mainly through elementary school and junior high school. When we got to high school, I became better friends with other people so he lost his hold on being my "best friend", so to speak. But we were still good friends even through college. The 2nd guy was my best friend my first 2 years in high school and a little bit of my senior year (he was a year ahead of me in school). We lost touch once he went off to college but reconnected after we both got out. But he got married and later moved away; I hadn't talked to him in a long time. The last guy was my best friend when I was in college. Even after he got out of Physical Therapy school, we still kept in constant touch with one another (I was a groomsman in his wedding). But once he started having kids, I sorta lost touch with him as well. It has been several months since I last talked to him. As of right now, my wife comes the closest to being my best friend but we are still working on getting to that point where we can both truthfully say that is the case (that we are each other's best friend).
Should I have made the font bigger when I said this wasn't about me? I'm not arguing whether or not it's right. I'm just saying it's possible for someone to be truly in love with two different people. How they got to that point is definitely wrong, just saying it's possible.
Seriously, my separated wife lurks sometimes. It's honestly just a hypothetical, not even for a friend. Totally serial.

My fiancee is my best friend. After her, I have 5 other people who I consider to be my closest friends as we have seen each other through the good and bad times over the last 10 odd years.
best not to think about it, yeah you had best friends in elementary but that was only because you only knew 25 kids, when you get to HS or College you know so many people and are friends with a lot more people that you are bound to get more than 1 person close to you.
QUEEN RULES!!! I have 3 real friends (two guys and 1 girl) I see more often only one of them, because, we are studying the same major and we are always in the same class. A best friend is someone who is there for you, when the times are dificult, someone who always listen to you.
