The BEST FILM of 1998 FINALS - pitting #1 Saving Private Ryan against #3 The Big Lebowski - is turning into a heavyweight slugfest. Please vote and help us spread the word with retweets. Thanks!

The quality of 90’s films is inversely proportional to the date: the later you go the worse they get.

Considering the best film of the 90s was made in 99... Wrong.

How the hell is Saving Private Ryan winning that match-up? The ending pretty much ruined the whole movie. I don't need a scene that insults my intelligence and tries to show me how I should feel. The movie was good enough that I felt it on my own. Spielberg always pulls that crap. The better the rest of the movie the worse it is at the end. Saving Private Ryan hit that sour note big time.

Big Lebowski is either first or second overall from the 90s depending on where Rushmore would be voted. Since Rushmore isn't in the finals, it's already out of whack.

I won't give any spoilers about Rushmore. I love it. I will say an underrated part of it is Schwartzman's roommate. He's a kid but it's not written or played to be cutesy or overly precocious or anything. He isn't the main character but it was a detail that I appreciated. The movie is full of them.

My list is subject to change of course. The 90s had so many bangers almost as good as the 80s but not quite as good but still good.
