Houston Rockets The Rockets tried to trade backup center Kelvin Cato, but we’re told he didn’t draw a lot of interest from other general managers. Cato has done absolutely nothing to warrant the six-year, $42 million contract Houston signed him to after he registered a triple-double during the preseason. The Rockets also tried to trade Walt Williams but found no takers. Insiders say the team is trying to clear salary-cap space so it can make a pitch for Sacramento’s Chris Webber, who becomes a free agent July 1. "Everybody by now knows what we’re trying to do," Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson said. "They don’t offer a lot of stuff that’s just wasting their time. During the year, when everybody’s talking, you get an understanding about what every team is attempting. We’ve got a chance to be under the cap. Everybody knows that. They’re not offering us a lot people that would get us back over the cap. There is interest in a lot of our young guys. But we’re not going to do anything with them. Our team is in pretty good shape. We’ve got a lot of young players that are starting to jell and come together. I listen. I get a lot of calls and listen to everything. But maybe one out of 100 calls can make the team better." ------------------ Charles Barkley on TBS on the "fat track" poll: "What? 47% said I'd gain more.....why those.....they better be glad this is a family show."
