That, and the fact that the Astros didn't release any sort of announcement on it... obviously one of the fired scouts told Gammons.

Yeah, hadn't thought about that angle, but I haven't been following it at all.

Verlander please. Don't like the silence. Or haven't the Astros noticed that the Dodgers have stolen the Astros' early season label as the team to beat? World Series opportunities don't grow on trees, ESPECIALLY in H-town. Carpe Diem.

It isn't happening. Major August deals rarely happen. I hope we add him, but I think my odds are better in powerball.

Aoki was cut by the Blue Jays. Any interest in bringing him back? I thought he brought great stability and consistency to the 9 hole, and I think he would only cost the minimum, prorated for the final month-plus of the season.

Depends on who would have to be moved to make room for him.

I would love to have him back, but so would other teams I'm sure. With rosters expanding in 2 days, interest will be high to add a guy like that to the bench.

As of Friday, no one would have to be moved off the 25 man roster. There are a few guys they could move to the 60 day DL to make room on the 40 man roster.

Depends on whether or not we're having too much fun watching Derek Fisher.

I'm not sure how much more playing time he's going to get once Correa comes back. I presume Marwin will get as much of LF as possible, and Beltran still is going to get AB's over him at a possible DH spot.

Get Verlander or for all your early season noise you're just the same old Astros management-wise.....willing to risk a once in a generation chance at a championship on the off chance that you're once historic squad will recapture their magic in time for the post season

Takes two teams to make a trade. Also, Verlander has to approve

I've never run a big league club, but it sure seems like we need a talent injection into our pitching staff. Not only from the physical standpoint, but even more so from the mental and emotional perspectives.

The Astros have taken a significant step back from injuries, but we've also lost the spirit and momentum we had from our early success. A Verlander injection, not only gives us a hot/rock solid starter, but also that all important emotional charge we need now--especially after Harvey. I don't know what kind of leader Verlander is, but if he comes in with a positive/how can I help attitude I have to think that's what this team could really use right now.

A winner would help the whole city recover a little faster and rally from the spirit that everyday Texans showed in the face of disaster.

Last two days have been rough for pitching staff. That said, the Astros have pitched well enough over the last two weeks that they should have won 3-4 more games at least if the Astros just scored an average amount of runs.
