So here is my question. If we were to sign him, would he basically be playing for us for free since we are the ones paying him anyway? If so, that sounds like a Crane move in the making.

Nope. We traded Wandy in July 2012. Luhnow was hired in December 2011.

Never liked the trade although I think part of it was to bottom out.

The stupid part was Wade giving him that extension in 2011, when the team had already started the rebuild.

Yea, Wade sent this team back considerably. He gave away Oswalt for scraps. We are lucky how well the Pence trade turned out. Bourne trade may turn out to be a solid move in the long run too.

Don't forget not trading Myers while having a career year, giving him an extension, then trading him along with cash for crap. Also giving the Yanks cash on that Berkman trade .

Wandy was always solid for us, he's had a nice career.

Man I wish we still had Hunter Pence. I'd trade the top of our batting order to get him back

This, this right here, this is why we can't have nice things.

I think Grossman could be an outstanding bench player at the very least.
