Apparently, he was save at first and they called him out. He flung his helmet down and the ump immediately ejected him. Garner got pissed.

Sounds like a pretty quick hook to me.

Actually, it sounds like the ump was saying, "Welcome to The Show, rook."

I wasn't watching, but that's what my friend said...it was a very quick hook.

CBS Sportsline has the ejection covered very well. From the "Game Notes" section:

It would be quite interesting to see how that happened. ;)

Willie overreacted - it wasn't really clear from the replays whether he was safe or not. Then the ump overreacted and kicked him out. It's possible the ump's first thought was that Willie was throwing his helmet at him, but after he threw him out, there's no way he was going to admit to screwing up.

Yeah it was quick, but it was a bang-bang play & Willy's gotta know not to do that (not the first time this season he's reacted like that).

Gar had his back, got tossed on purpose it looked like.

"Crash must have called him a **********."

After Willy got the rest of the day off, Garner decided going to have an early beer in the clubhouse with Willy sounded like a good idea.

It was a really close play, a lot like the one Everett was just called safe on. I was just waiting to see if that ump would have the balls to call him out too. :D

Yeah, what's he hitting the past couple weeks?

I saw that he was over .260 and was like, wha? He must be on the quietest tear ever!

Garner wasn't around to see the finish, either -- he and center fielder Willy Taveras were ejected for arguing after Taveras was called out at first in the sixth, Houston's first ejections this season. TV replays indicated Taveras beat shortstop Jack Wilson's throw to the bag on his grounder.

We still got a guy in RF that's batting .240 with a OBP of .290.

He is gaining confidence and it looks like he has turned the corner.

In the last week alone (Cards and Buckos), the kid is batting .555, with OB% over .560 and Slugging over .500

With Bidge likely to go into late season decline soon, Burke timely excellent output could even be biger now. And with his AAA performance [history] it is safe to say that this outburst is not a fluke.

Hmmmm...Cincy might be the one begging us to do a deal in the end :p

    Good point.

Because when I said "just kidding" what I meant was, "I'm serious."

I would kill for another bat on this team. This is some of the best pitching (apart from middle relief) that we've ever had on an Astros squad. The staff is built for a seven game series; we just need more consistent offense.
