I guess it's better to post Winter Meetings rumors and rumblings in here than the player movement thread. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/Mets">@Mets</a>, White Sox, Cubs and Astros showing interest in @<a href="https://twitter.com/cgrand14">@cgrand14</a>, who may require at least a 4-yr deal > <a href="http://t.co/vYrLzgjbc3">http://t.co/vYrLzgjbc3</a></p>— Matthew Cerrone (@matthewcerrone) <a href="https://twitter.com/matthewcerrone/statuses/400359253921525760">November 12, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Yea I agree. Obviously the Castro news earlier today: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=246694
Curtis Granderson is a total class act. I'd be thrilled for the Astros to sign him and would root for the Astros to win with him on the team.
this this this!!!! I would effing love this!!! and to have justtxyank rooting for the astros is reason enough! finally i get to buy the man a beer and watch a game! make it happ'n, cap'n!!!
Would he be at the expense of bringing Springer up and isn't he just a much older version of Springer? Home runs, steals, and (what will likely be for Springer) tons of k's.
driving up the asking price. but seriously, why would you even consider trading jason castro? if your planning on doubleing payroll and start being competetive, why would you trade one of your key players and part of your core? maybe i can understand if your packaging him with players tbd for a superstar of sorts. but otherwise it just makes no sense to me.
Agreed but if the price for David Price was say Springer, DDJ, and Folty many of us would likely balk. But would you hesitate if Castro was substituted for Springer? Personally I say let all the kids come up and let's see what we got.
hm, maybe..err.. probably.. BUT if crane is true to his word and he wants the astros payroll to be 50-60mil next season, he has some SERIOUS spending to do. and the way it sounds, the astros do not want to lose a draft pick or commit to a huge deal. tanaka fits the bill... will likely sign a 5 year deal, and no draft pick compensation.
Bolstering bullpen a tricky proposition for Astros - Mutual interest in Veras and the Astros but no talks yet. - Joel Hanrahan is expected to contact the Astros - Jesse Crain another potential option
I'm just trying to give Astros fans the latest on the rumors. Instead of someone visiting clutch fans and clocking on 20 different links from posters about one piece of information, I just put it all in one article (kind of like MLB Trade Rumors) so it's easier to view for all.
