Astros miss out on Ben Weber

Sounds like the Reds missed out on the Trifecta by not getting Micelli.

 

I don't think I've ever heard a pitcher take so much heat after a season in which he posted a 3.59 ERA. I know he was horrible in the playoffs, but who in the bullpen other than Lidge and Wheeler weren't? Miceli was more than solid over the course of the season.

 

I have been tarred and feathered for arguing the same point in other places.

Miceli was given 1.7 Million by Yomiuri to be their closer. Obviously the American Major Leagues are a higher level of competition, but 1.7 Million is 1.7 Million, and they signed him as the *closer*.

 

Plus, that's 1.1 million more than me made with the Astros last year. Of course he's going to go to Japan.

 

Bummer, I was thinking that Ben Weber might have been a good pickup for cheap.

 

What's the deal?

I didn't know that one could actually "miss out" on Ben Weber.

 

Heat is one thing; myopic denial of a solid pitching record is another.
