What happens if we end up tied with the Phillies? I know we won the season series, but do we still have to play a tiebreaker to decide it?

Why at Philly? Was there a coin toss? The Astros won the season series, quite handily.

Mets scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 6-5 lead over the Phillies. 6 more outs left in the game for the Phillies though. Still two on and two out for the Mets.

So I take it the Phillies just lost a "must-win" game tonight? Does that mean we clinched? :D

In all seriousness, though, this just exemplifies the beauty, uncertainty, and vast day-to-day fluctuations that comprise this sport of baseball. All week, everybody was saying that the Phillies ninth-inning wins would virtually propel them to the WC lead simply because they would ride the momentum.

Now, they blow a 4 run lead to a paltry Mets team in the final two innings... and suddenly, tommorow, everybody will be saying that "the Phillies just blew the WC, and this game will linger around and could harm them."

And, in case you're wondering, I really don't believe that any one game can have a serious hangover effect (unless an injury is involved). Pitching matchups have far too much of an impact into a team's "momentum".
