Who saw this coming? Not me....The 2015 Astros have the most wins in the American League! They lead the majors in homers by a significant margin! They have the youngest team in baseball! Our entire team is locked up under very cheap contracts for the next 3-6 years ! And after the 2015 MLB Draft, we ended up with three of the top seven prospects in the entire draft and that is absolutely phenomenal! With Dallas as a bonafide ace, Altuve and Springer as young up and coming stars in the league.....2 rookie of the year candidates in Lance MCCullers , and the FUTURE LEBRON OF THE MLB CARLOS COREA ...The most talented astro ever!! We have a ton of power beyond these 5 players, we have a plethora of young starting pitching, a great bullpen, THE BEST FARM SYSTEM IN BASEBALL! Yea I'm being optimistic, it's the 4th of July. I'm a huge Rocket fan but I can't ignore the franchise that will probably bring the next championship to Houston.....and don't be surprised if they win 3 or more in the next 5 years....A great time to be an Astros fan
I love the optimism, but slow down a little bit! I'll be popping champagne bottles if we clinch a playoff spot, much less winning the entire thing.
It really is the most fun I've had being a fan of the Astros since the mid-90's. Why? It's not performance since we've certainly had teams with more talent that will go on to better records. The answer is expectation. This team has none. Enjoy it while it lasts, and try not to add any expectations prematurely will you? Let's let the kids be kids, and make every win a pleasant surprise.
So... you suddenly decided that you wanted to be an Astros fan again after all of your diatribes on how awful you thought Jim Crane was?
Let them have their fun. All of us who actually stuck around knew most of these guys would be back once we started getting results.
not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, not 8, not 9, not 10, not 11...consecutive playoff appearances.
Same thing at crawfish boxes. The minor league threads there use to be much bigger than the game threads.
By no means do I think they are the fave to win it all this year . I think if they bring in Cueto or a Kashmire or some other solid starting pitcher they have a chance though......But over the next 5 years or so I think we are better set then any other franchise in the MLB and it's not even close.....Carlos Correa will win several Mvps
The thing that gives me the biggest sports boner is our future every-day lineup, which reads like a freaking fantasy team: C - Max Stassi 1B - AJ Reed or JD Davis 2nd - Altuve or Kemp SS - Bregman 3rd - Correa OF - Kyle Tucker OF - Daz Cameron OF - George Springer DH - Brett Phillips or Jon Singleton or Domingo Santana Wildcards - Collin Moran, Derek Fisher, Teoscar Hernandez, Congrad Gregor
To me, I feel like Nottingham will be at C. Stassi has struggled at AAA both years and has me wondering where he actually makes sense as a prospect in our eyes.
You got me--I was just looking up who our best C prospect is; I know Stassi has been "the next one" and has disappointed for the most part.
They are not going to fill an entire roster with home-grown players. And every home-grown player you've listed, no matter how much hype they have now, is not going to make it in the big leagues.
LOL... that guy was actually more consistent in his "hatred" though... as even when the Indians came back, won the division and went up 3-0 in the ALCS, he STILL was hating on them. "they'll blow it in the playoffs..." (and when they lost 3 consecutive ALCS games). "You see?... just blow the place up!" It was only when Vaughn finally nuts up and comes in relief in game 7 that he becomes a fan again. God, I know waaay too much about that awful/mediocre sequel.
^^This is accurate Correa in 25 games is already the best SS in the AL, and maybe already the best player on the Astros RIGHT NOW...It's scary what his potential is.
