Lets hope they fare better this time than they did two weeks ago (when they were ranked #1, but got swept by St. Louis). I like the fact that this is the first ranking that probably didn't mention either Roger Clemens or Andy Pettite's great performances... shows how deep this team can be. ESPN Power Rankings 1. Astros (8) They're not done yet: Bags and Bigs are batting .337 combined with an OPS around 1.000. And with Jeff Bagwell's persistent injury, they're doing it with only three shoulders.
Thats like saying "Take away Pettite from the Yankees last year and they would have finished 4th in their division".
Take Clement away from the Cubs and they are only one game over .500. Take Morris away from the Cards and they are a .500 team. Take Wilson away from the Reds and they are 3 games under .500. Take Sheets away from the Brewers and they are 1 game under .500. Take Benson away from the Pirates and they are 2 games under .500. Boy that reasoning sounds really stupid when you do it to every team doesnt it. We have Clemens and he has won 6 games. Why are you complaining?
Do I have to spell it out that I was trying to point out how ridiculous last week's comment was? That's why I included the Sarcasm is so hard to express on the internet sometimes.
LMAO...so hard to get sarcasm now a days. I am so used to the bashing in the GARM that once I saw this in here I couldn't think of it being sarcasm. I remember that being in the last power rankings. It was one of the dumbest things ever typed up.
that's certainly the way it seems on Baseball Tonight...which, nevertheless, remains my favorite show on television! except for...maybe...Jeff Brantley. He seems to be a big believer in the 'stros starting rotation.
