No, he is slow/old, we lost to a 7th seeded team with him, I don't value FVV that much, he is a combo guard who protects the ball and provides little else, has no finishing at the rim at all, no creativity with the ball, just another older guy fading away. He is a role player at best...which is why IMe loves him I guess. DD
The Rockets rested three games before the playoffs. That put them on ice, including Right Said Fred. FVV ain't all that (not that Stonedoka is aware) but at least with him there is some roster balance. That said, I won't hold my breath for a Willis Reed.
If Fred was going to be something like what he was in last year's playoffs then obviously he would be a huge help. The problem is, the likelihood of that is slim to nonexistent coming off surgery and a year off the court.
FVV was good in 3 games, meh in 1 game, and putrid in three games in the playoffs. I don’t want any version of last year’s FVV on this team. He was a low turnover, low assist, terrible fg% bottom five pg last year. I don’t think we need a pg, but if we do, it certainly isn’t FVV.
It's true that he played poorly the first few games, especially games 1 and 2. However, the last four games of the series he was absolutely on fire and averaged 24 and 5 on 56% / 66% shooting. His overall average over the entire series was 19 and 4 on 43 % / 43% shooting. On a team that badly needs floor spacing, anybody who could provide that kind of shooting would be a huge help to us in the playoffs. But as I said, I don't believe FVV will be able to come back and do that.
I would like to see him come back. He would help some. But, mainly, I think it would be good to get him back to prove that he's no savior and the team has bigger problems. All of that before the offseason would be nice.
Rockets lost to the 7th seed last year cuz their leading scorer s**t the bed all but 1 game. FVV wasn't brought here to be their #1 scoring option.
One of the smallest guys in the NBA, wrong side of 30, clearly carrying extra weight, terrible shooting efficiency even when fully healthy, and returning to the court from injury in record time? What the f*ck could go wrong?
