I wear a lot of beanies...mostly because I'm too lazy to do anything with my hair and find them to be comfortable. I don't ever recall wearing a cap for anything other than fishing, though.
I've got 3 fedoras, giddy, and always looking for a vintage one that'll fit my fat head, lol! Don't get enough chances to wear them down here, because of the heat, but I love them. Even have an old one that belonged to my Dad. Biggest complaint? Not enough cool weather to wear more than a lightweight hat most of the time. That really limits how often I park them on my noggin. And I'm looking for a beret that's lightweight enough to wear all the time. Anyone know a good place to try and find one in Austin that's not thick wool? I've always loved the look of a nice beret. When you don't have a lot of hair left up there, a fedora or beret is groovy.
I knew it! Anybody here wear cowboy hats? My brother gave me one for my birthday back in 1979-80 during the Urban Cowboy craze. I couldn't wear it; it felt like I had a pizza box glued to my head. I used to have a dapper little rubber Fedora-type of hat. It was designed to be a rain hat I guess. It was kind of like the one that Rocky Balboa wore in Rocky. I lost track of it-- my son might have it. I miss it. I have one of those Irish foul weather hats that belonged to my dad, too. My dad used to wear one of those Russian wool military caps-- the kind that fold flat and you can pop them open to wear. You see the same design on the heads of food service workers and GIs. Looks like an envelope and pops open for quick positioning. Hats and dancing: two things I'd like to be good at....
I've got a bunch of caps (Astros, Red Sox, UT), a straw cowboy hat, and a black porkpie with a red feather in the hatband.
