If there was 8 seconds on the clock and it did not start correctly and a last second shot was made, they probably wouldn't review it. It is not the players fault that the clock didnt start correctly. All they can do is get a shot up before time runs out...and they did.

people blaming the refs are stupid. that's the replay center's fault. they're the ones calling it in and overturning it.

The rockets had a similar call go their way against Philly earlier this year. Dude had a mid court shot waived off after the clock didnt start properly. I think it was McConnell

Lol like you have to be a certified trained specialist with 5 degrees to run a stop watch.

I did it on my phone (might be wrong guys, it's not e fancy certified stop watch) and I got 2.45 seconds. Very close, but I started it AS SOON as Demarcus touched it and stopped it when it CLEARLY left his hand. Considering the clock guy always starts it late I would say there is not enough evidence to overturn it and let the winner be decided in OT.

Yesterday the ball was still coming off Morris' fingers and they still counted it.

Moreso the lack of consistency. They seem to pick and choose when they want to time when the clock actually started. And even in this case it looks like there is not enough evidence to overturn the call with the deflection. Time it yourself, I may be wrong. But factor in what I said above.

I think it's just a bad rule. The shot was out of his hands before the backboard lit up red. That's all a player should have to worry about. Keeping track of where the clock "should" be is unreasonable. I think a better approach would be to play the game per the shot clock operator, and then punish the operator when he screws up. Or replace the operators with technology.

Far from "the worst call in the history of the NBA". Certainly questionable, but there have been far worse.

Actually, the clock started just after Cousins touched it and before the player got it so the clock did start correctly (there is one angle from the replay that showed that, about 1:05 on the clip) so they should check if he got the ball off before the buzzer. We really did not get a good replay on this, but it did look like he got it off in time.

I think it makes no sense that the players should be punished for Timer's mess up, all they can see is the clock above them and they play according to that. Was ross suppose to calculate in his head what the time was even if he knew the timer messed up

I don't think this qualifies as a worst call. It's a debatable call, not even a "bad" call per se.

You know what's a bad call?

The guy started the clock as soon as he noticed the tip, so this overturning is odd and a slippery slope.

I have a solution for this, how about NOT putting yourself in this predicament against a notoriously bad team. How about putting bad teams away early and tell Lowry to stop throwing up horrible shots. You can't control the refs whistle and if that is going against you all game than so be it but if it's not than this is a team you should've put away in the 1st half

Not a bad call. Just a bad rule.

They should either abide by the clock or replay the play.

Previous play started with 27.2 seconds. Take away 24 seconds = 3.2 sec. But the final play started with 2.4 seconds. So there's that for starters.
How many times is the shot clock EXACT to the hundredth of a second? It relies on human reaction to start/stop. Keep in mind the scorers were KINGS, so the late start was their fault. Besides the clock did start before Ross got the ball.

I think the best decision would have been to let it count and have the game go to overtime.
