With the news of Manchin not getting rid of the filibuster for voting rights, are we going to see a civil war soon? A recent poll had about 15 states that were in favor of seceding. This can’t be sustainable, right? Not to be dramatic, but it seems like we are headed down a dark path and I don’t see how democracy survives at this rate. Thoughts?
Would like the see the polls. I know it Texas we talk about it all the time, but we would literally have a civil war within the State if they tried. The state is only 55 percent Red. If a really red state actually tried, they would squashed and their economy would go to crap. All the really red states take more from the federal government than they give.
I feel like facism is around the corner. I fear states will decide to toss out elections and just claim that the republican won. I also think voting is going to be a problem starting in 2022.
I honestly think you are watching sensationalist news too much. Yes voting rights is going in the wrong direction but it's still easier to vote then it's ever been. They should just give everyone a free ID or use your SSN number since everyone has one. It's not that difficult.
I can respect that. I am a tad worried that elections will be tossed in red states if a democrat happens to win. Republican state legislatures have passed crazy laws where the state could decide who won. Hopefully I am wrong about this.
Some people actually think they can win a civil war They feel like the other side is soft They think that the military will either not get involved or be on their side IMO Reconciliation of the previous civil war happened for several reasons 1. The north were gracious in victory - and wanted reunion more than anything else. 2. The distance and space between warring parties 3. lack of outside interference IF another Civil war breaks out none of that will be true We are stacked up on top of each other more than ever The winners will seek to STICK IT TO the other side in a fashion that will require COMPLETE VICTORY and other countries will get involved and The Hard feelings afterwards will be 3 times worse than last time IMO Are we there yet? No. The problem is IMO folx like Trump are nudging us there Rocket River
Honestly the biggest indicator or thing to watch is migration patterns. Texas is panicking because the things they love most about this state . .. . .is attracting people they don't like Influx of liberalish folx is distressing .. . ESP IF THEY HAVE MONEY! "Don't want to become another California" or "They messed up California now they are bringing that stupidity here" and They are right .. . they are coming . .. and they bringing their policy ideas with them They plan to pick what they like about texas and keep it. . .then implement things they want to change about the state Rocket River
I agree. The state is losing about 2-3 percent of Republicans every 4 years. Romney won by like 12 and Trump won by 5 recently. If the pace continues then 2028 Texas will flip. That’s the ball game if that happens.
That’s good. Season your news reading with some reality. The United States is far too rich and important economically to very powerful corporate interests to allow it to fracture. Most of the **** you read about like your topic is just dogs barking at each other on different sides of the fence.
Right not the biggest thing is that the Cities in Texas are getting bluer and larger (Except maybe Dallas) Houston, Austin, San Antonio . .. . seem quite blue. The problem for Republicans will get REAL when the Blue Californians infiltrate the small towns. Rural East Texas and West Texas . . . Rocket River
I hope your right, but limiting the vote and having the state legislature decide who won the election seems crazy. Again, I could be wrong and I hope I am, but I’m seeing signs of facism. Trump is also not going away, and he could easily win again.
