Except Mo makes almost $30 mil for 3 years, not to mention all guaranteed, rather than the 6 years for McDyess, and not all guaranteed.

I hate to say it, but Mo's contract is still terrible even by this year's standard. He makes more than $9 mil a year, which is almost Carlos Boozer money. And most people here seems to think Boozer is overpaid. Taylor isn't even near the player Boozer is.

They considered the downside of playing for JVG, and decided they would maintain more value (> ppg) by going somewhere else.

So if you sign Eric Piatkowski in phase 1 and then Jim Jackson in phase 2 and have one productive player (average age 33) (combined salary = $5 million)

    compared to

James Posey in phase 1 (age 27) ($5 million)

    which is the better value?

No. I refuse to let it die. CD's minions continue to spread the 1/2 truths and it is my mission in life to point these out..........

James Posey is my spiritual half brother.

Posey is cleary a system player - a lot of talent in systems that fit his style - he would likely have been equally as impressive, but absolutely none moreso, than JJ in our system. Piatkowski could have panned out - he hasn't yet.

You hate losing Posey, and I agree that CD has screwed this team, BUT Jim Jackson was a good signing, and losing Posey was definitely offset by him. You get JJ and Pike for the same money, and the only reason no one likes Pike is b/c he isn't being used effectively. He's still a shooter.

Maybe the GM's have a "feeling" that the next CBA will be more lenient or will have a higher salary cap figure?

Hell I would rather go into 2004-05 with Lue at PG and see what we can trade for midseason than overpay for mediocrity.
