I think it's both. We had a career 33-34% 3 point shooter magically hit 45% of his 3's on high volume out of nowhere during a stretch of easy games. He's hitting 20% on the same high volume since the steak ended.
It’s easy to ignore the OP as he obviously is not a fan... of anything. Just a hater of Sengun. And a coward that hides and disappears for long stretches when Sengun is balling. But it’s fairly hard to ignore all those trigger-happy shallow fans falling for obvious baits of this troll, thinking they're into some serious discussion.
We were blowing a lot of those teams out. Even if he shot 20% we probably win most of those games. The big difference is he took easier shots in those games against lesser opponents which also helped his %s. He got some open looks to get into a rhythm and then started taking the more difficult shots.
Alperen Sengun is not only Rockets best player, but he is also the future big face with Wemby and Holmgren in this league. Three young bigs, three different play styles. That March madness playing against worst teams of NBA shook the heads of some fans and they showed disrespect to an injured player. We all love our team and we want all our players to be great, but without Alpi and his creativity, this team never is a play in team. With him, This team beat Nuggets, Bucks-title contenders, without him, portland, Sacramento, OKC without their best player and playing back to back and Detroit. Alpi is the only untouchable in this team if this team has goals for next season. We need all the efforts of all our players with consistency. I love my team and want to be successfull, this can not be achieved if we mob our players, specifically our best player or prospect.
Has his two points plummeted to 20% over same span? Because if you are going to struggle from 3 land then you better convert your 2s at high clip Similar to how I tried explaining to you about that Minny game where he struggled for on 3 land but was 8/11 from 2, which balanced his awful 3/11 downtown struggle When evaluating a 3 level scorer, the 3 ball is just a portion, not the end of all be, they are all equally as important, including FT% But of course we want him at 36+% for next season and moving forward if they decide to extend him Good thing he has that Curry pamphlet that the magnanimous Silas gave him rookie yr, he went into that mode in March, next season should be ''Fun'' Green for most part, he will hit a slump like all players, hopefully it will be just twice a month and not be prolonged for his cold December+ stretch TBD
Everyone? Really? That's why the net has run amok A few rotten apples that fall from the tree doesn't represent the ripe(wise) ones firmly attached to the tree You need both paces to play/win with, Rockets got lucky and selected both in same draft........any pace be damned, Rockets want all the paces
Since his fluke hot streak ended, he's got a TS% of 50.5%...which is terrible. There's just no way to spin that. If you can't make 3's, you need to stop taking them....but a SG needs to take them, so that's not really an option. Of course "slumps" happen to all players, but the issue with Green is that something like 90% of his entire career has been a "slump"....we need to see more of him not "slumping" if we're going to extend him. Personally I hope he finishes the season strong and gives us at least a few more good performances, then comes out next season looking like he's finally taken that 3rd year leap everyone talked about. Better late than never.
now compare his slumps and ts% to his about 35-40 player class in history of NBA and tell me where they fared 90% of time And if they were on the bench half of time first two seasons and pedestrian to decent their third season, then Green is definitely on right path when looking at Tmac&Kobe&KG trajectory Especially since he has shown plenty of flash all way back to his fluke debut where he made like 7 or so threes I don't know why you bought this made up hype and trajectory, but he is about right on time And even with the ts%, you only mention it when its low Or if its good you will call it a fluke Come end of next season you will still call him a fluke, it will be perpetual, which means he is balling out That fluke extension is lurking, prepare for fluke season 2025, book it Personally you want him to fail bad and for Mobley to at least become passable on offensive side(solo not spoon fed) so you can brag about the two way player Mobley offense is looking like Green defense past two seasons when he is not being spoonfed, though he has had some decent scoring games since returning from injury So maybe there is hope after all ..... especially since the worst defender got better
