You haven't seen the whole flick? Do you know there are two versions, besides the third that will someday come out? At least see one of the two versions in it's entirety, Señor SwoLy!

Who knows... you might enjoy it. ;)

it is written: judge threads lest ye be consumed by dallas.

(i'm not judging anyone...you can stop with the theological element in every response to my posts)

I wouldn't call someone a cheapskate for not getting an HDTV. The amount of programming available in high def outside of major sporting events and the majority of network primetime shows is pathetic. I've had an HD tuner from Time Warner for over 4 years and they've only added a handful of channels since then.

What's even worse is that outside of Showtime, the other channels still insist on cropping most 2.35:1 movies to fit the 16:9 frame of the TV set. And recent major TV events like the Emmys and Path to 9/11 were shown in standard def only.

Now there are other advantages to having an HDTV. The increased resolution offered by anamorphic DVDs, high def formats like HD-DVD and Blu-rry, and game systems like the X-Box 360 and PS3 which take advantage of 1080i and 720p capabilities.

Still, that's probably not enough motivation for the average person to upgrade regardless of how much disposable income they've got. On the other hand, anyone who says they can't notice a difference between standard def and high def(provided it's a good quality broadcast or HD-DVD transfer) is either lying or legally blind.

You are right, but LOTS and LOTS of people watch DVDs and play video games.
an upconvert or progressive scan dvd player pairs nicely with a HDTV. So does a surround sound system.

plus demand is there for HD, the satellite companies are going to launch MPEG4 signals and then the cable companies would be forced to follow with better compression.

I'm not either. I can't tell a freaking difference between the two. Maybe it's because the receptions are going throgh Time-Warner. But we toggle all the time.

I think most of y'all just are enjoying the emporers new clothes phase.

good for you! but I don't think being able to read what's in people's shirts in the sidelines makes a basketball game better to watch..

and i don't think buying an hdtv guarantees one is not a cheap skate

one is a cheapskate if one owns $1000 coffee tables and other fancy stuff and and does not have a HDTV.

one is a cheapskate when he owns an xbox360, expensive speakers, surround sound, and cheap 27in RCA TV.

yeah, we all need to be spending more money on tv's. i'm certain that's the answer.

considering a vasectomy? nah...go with a more expensive tv

couples counseling? don't need it...you have an expensive tv, remember.

what's in your CD player? who cares...you can spend more on a tv!!!!
