Big data. It's nothing new, but it is insidious. As long as there is a huge supply for delivery drivers, these soulless corporations are going to squeeze every last penny out of them. I see opportunity, though. Undercut Uber/Lyft by paying drivers more and you can take some market share.
lol. The scam economy is perpetuated by those who use stuff like DoorDash for food delivery on a weekly basis. You're basically pissed off at being scammed by the scam you willfully accept to be scammed by.
When Door dash first started I thought there was no way this business model would survive............you want me to pick up your food and deliver it with minimal charges, but then you realize your $12.00 order is $23.00 with a $3.00 tip..................I never realized my fellow humans were so lazy that they would actually pay double for what you can go get................LAZY, I get it and once in a while I will splurge and do it, but I have gen z`s at work who use it daily
Yeah, no to the single person food order. I have no problem getting it for my family. It saves a trip. I have seen Gen Z do the single person food order, though. Money isn't real to them.
I have rarely used it for this reason Esp not with my own money Also. Uber and door dash are incredibly inefficient One Meal per Driver When I delivered for Pizza hut I would Grab like 5 pies and make a loop be gone about an hour . . .. . . . .back at it again So I would get 5 trips and 5 tips to do the same with DoorDash would be able 2 if not 3 hours it seems Rocket River
I think some drivers are smart/organized enough to coordinate delivering from multiple services at once.
Yeah, none of this is new. Of course they're going to offer the least amount on an order if someone is dumb enough to accept it. Drivers perspective: I'm still DD'ing about 6 hours a week. For me, it's just to kill time while I'm waiting for my kid's band rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday nights. Also I'll do Fridays from 11 to 1 because I work from home and we don't have meetings on Fridays. People love door dashing lunch on Fridays. I have strict rules for the offers I accept and don't accept. Nothing under $6 total Nothing under $1.50 per mile Nothing more than 3 miles away Nothing from certain restaurants with long wait times (Torchy's, 3 B's, Raising Cane's) I'm not a slave to my acceptance rate. Some drivers feel like they need to accept all the trash orders (ones that don't meet the rules above) and they're the ones who ruin it for everyone else. If no one accepts the $2 orders, DD will stop sending them. Kind of like bands who accept free gigs for "exposure" (LOL) ruining it for all the bands trying to make money. DD tries to guilt you into accepting every offer. You supposedly get "perks" if your acceptance rate is above 50%. Homey don't play that. My AR is currently sitting at 13%. Last night I accepted 3 out of 18 offers and still made $23 in an hour and a half.
WHOA! That's sounds like a great Idea 23 an hour is legit Friend I knew seems like she was making like 50$ a night on GOOD NIGHTS [after gas ] and she would be out for like 5 or 6 hours Rocket River
Yeah, I thought $2.50 was the absolute minimum but I actually got a $2 order last night. First one I've ever seen. I couldn't decline it fast enough. I think the people who feel like they're getting "scammed" are expecting too much from these apps. They really aren't supposed to provide a full time income - they're strictly side gigs. If you're doing it 8 hours a day 40 hours a week and expecting to make 20/hour consistently, that's just not going to happen. What I love best about doing it is that there is almost no human interaction at all. 99% of people just want you to leave it at their door. I can put my earbuds in and just drive around picking up and dropping off food like a phantom.
