So while you point out that they did and it was wrong, you do the same thing. Please, tell me what the president (GWB or Barry) had to do with the housing collapse, unregulated derivatives, and outsourcing manufacturing jobs overseas for 15+ years, etc...
Giving back control of this country to Republicans would be like someone going back to the plastic surgeon that completely butchered their face becuase the next plastic surgeon couldn't make them look like Katy Perry. Frankly put, you're an idiot if you think that's a good idea.
Fair or not - that's politics. Were you defending W in 2008? Besides, in 2008 Barack Hussein Obama was quite happy to cultivate an image as a Messiah/rock star capable of solving every problem.
So you are a politician on the campaign trail? And yes, I was saying the same thing in 2008 about W. Shockingly, I am not a left winger that you can argue with (nor a right winger). Disgusted with both sides equally. Regardless, you still have not given me a good reason as to why you would blame a president for the state of the economy.
GweenCuisine's argument about O not being supernatural could really make some noise on the campaign trail; after all, Mitt does wear magic underwear.
It's not a question of whether or not I blame a president - it's whether the electorate does. Obama exploited that it 2008. It sure as hell wasn't McCain's fault, but he paid the price in 2008 and maybe there will be some karma biting Obama in 2012.
So when obama took office his policies just took effect? You would really have to wait 6 months to a year. If it was bush v obama who would win?
UE percentage is now lower than when Obama started. Start date is February, 2009 Can't use January 2009 as President wasn't inaugurated until January 21. We don't know what the UE was on that date, so you have to use 2/2009 UE in 2/2009: 8.3% UE in 8/2009: 8.1% In the last 8 presidential tenures, that's #4- Reagan 2, Clinton 1, Clinton 2, and then Obama 1. UE went up during Reagan 1, W Bush 1, W Bush 2, and GW Bush from February of their 1st year to August of their 4th year. Also, among President's 1st terms over the past 32 years, only Clinton and Obama have had UE decrease. Arguably, it is easier for things to get done in a President's 2nd term than their 1st. Food for thought. For those that think, of course. For those that don't think, that say _____ consecutive months of 8+% UE without acknowledging that we started in 2/2009 with 8.3%, for those that use the number by itself and say things like "Obama caused 8% UE!!," this post is not for you. Please ignore.
“If you vote against Obama because he can't get stuff done, it's kind of like saying 'This guy can't cure cancer. I'm gonna vote for cancer.'” —Chris Rock.
Once it became apparent that Obama would be elected, businesses got very concerned about the future outlook and laid off people. Obama's impact was felt well before he took office.
Unemployment rates don't consider those that have given up and are permanantly unemployed. The workforce participation rate is atrocious and one of the worst in 50+ years. Obama himself said that he shouldn't be re-elected if he can't turn things around in 3 years. He just has been atrocious at dealing with those that employ and though things would be tough regardless of who was president, he detracted from the recovery when he could've used the government to help push the recovery.
Then he saw the Republicans plan to turn things back around in the same direction as the past and was all like: He's gettin' quatro mas hermano..je suggeste que deal with it dog.
The definition of insanity: Continuing to do the same thing and expect different results. Time for CHANGE in the white house
“For 52 years now, the Republicans have held the White House 28 years, the Democrats, 24. In those 52 years, our private economy has produced 66 million private sector jobs. So what’s the job score? Republicans, 24 million; Democrats, 42 (million).” No change necessary
I'm seen this figure fact-checked by a handful of reputable organizations. They all judged it true. Weird.
