And he is next in line....pray that Bush doesn't drive by the Book Repository in Dallas on his next dog and pony show tour
The insurgency in Iraq is "in the last throes," Vice President Dick From today's news ... Series of Attacks Kill 38 in Iraq Jun 2, 3:33 PM (ET) By PAUL GARWOOD BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Three suicide car bombings struck within an hour and two parked motorcycles exploded in northern Iraq on Thursday, while gunmen in speeding cars opened fire on a crowded market in Baghdad in a series of attacks that killed at least 38 people. Maybe The Dick is thinking that the insurgency is just gonna get tired of making bombs and go home. I mean making bombs is hard work!
The insurgency in Iraq is "in the last throes," Vice President Dick I'm not sure what to believe. Is Cheney that deluded? Most likely he knows it is bs, but who cares as the guys and gals on Fox News will run this statement as a major story. Whether true or not, it will keep the desperate to be contented, contented.
America's golden moment was the 20th century. The 16th belonged to the Spanish, the French prospered in the 18th, and the British dominated the 19th. We've now emerged into the 21st as a bankrupt and overextended empire. China's got next.
If Americans were to bitterly resist that thought, then wouldn't it make sense for them to support Bush? The only reason for a politician to mention a golden moment is to get back what the people think they've lost or to win a war without a forseeable outcome.
Bush, Kerry, Hilary, XYZ......I don't think it really matters who they support at this point. The patient's condition is critical and terminal. The laundry list of injuries and diseases, not to mention the dormant viruses that are due to spring up and become active in the future - are too much to overcome. IMO, the Emperor is sitting naked on his deathbed and his eventual successor from across the Pacific is already getting fitted for the crown.
Rhetoric rise maybe but Bush's policies are going to run this country down. The out of control spending, borrowing and tax cutting will catch up to us or our kids sooner or later. We're already falling behind many countries in areas of research and we're losing our lead in intellectual capital thanks to poor education policy. Not to mention haphazard policies regarding trade, immigration and international legal structures are starting to alienate allies and trading partners.
Thank goodness there are term limits. I just hope that future presidents can undo the damage Bush has done.
well just wait till Iraq stabilizes a bit and the oil starts to flow more towards the west coast ...it'll take a couple years...then you'll see the effect on the economy.....Bush may talk like an idiot though he has some good people around him and he's not exactly a dumba$$....they know what they are doing....Iraq has the second largest reserve in the world....have patience young ones.
Even if there had not been chaos, instability, and mass sabotage to the pipelines occuring, it would have taken several years to build up Iraq's oil infrastructure just so that it could get back to the 2.5 million barrels/day that Iraq had been producing under Saddam's regime. As it stands now, those several years are being drawn out to a decade minimum. Suffice it to say that nobody in the oil industry (including the IEA who are the international industry standard for surveys and projections) is expecting much out of Iraq anytime soon in terms of oil production. Even if Iraq does get back to its previous production level of 2.5M/day, that is still a drop in the bucket compared to the ~65M barrels/day currently being produced worldwide. Sure, Iraq has a lot of reserves. It is difficult to say if they or Russia or Iran or Kazakhstan has the second largest reserves though, because nobody really knows what Russia has and the quality/extractability of the reserves must also be considered. Nonetheless, building an oil infrastructure anywhere takes many years. So your hope that "it'll take a couple years" is just not possible.
Man, you sound like the world is about to end. If you travel a bit, you will know we still have one of the highest living standards, have access to the best health care, still enjoy more freedom than just about anyone in the world. Sure others will catch up, and you expect them to. In fact in this global economy, you would want them to do better. As the Chinese living standard improve, they will be able to consume more products/services from us. This is a win-win situation for both, (never mind increased prosperity/living standard enhances stability and curbs terrorism). BTW, China is far far away to overtake us as the next superpower, at least 50 years.
Unfortunately no term limits for Congress - you have such scumbag as Strom Thurmond who stuck his senile ass in the senator until he went to meet his creator.
