I think it is a compliment. You are now powerful enough to create a division within the fanbase, your next steps will decide the future of Rockets. Choose wisely, oh mighty forum poster!
A rocketswatch on whether Jalen could have extended his streak against good teams if Sengun was not injured would be fun to watch. I have a hunch it is not happening.
The part that came before that ...his Hibachi days and when Adidas made him the posterboy from his Golden State days .....
It turns out he was not only the best offensive player of the Rockets but the best defensive player as well. The Rockets DRTG tanked since Sengun went down with injury, and the Rockets are far from being a "terror defensively". Too bad so many agendas failed with only a few games to go.
Who’s your pick for Most Improved Player? Pelton: Alperen Sengun, with an asterisk. Because of the NBA's misguided eligibility rules, Sengun will only be eligible if an independent doctor rules he will be unable to play through May 31 due to the injury that ended his regular season two games shy of the 65-game minimum. (Why May 31? A full month and a half after the end of the regular season and just before the start of the Finals? That's a great question for the NBA to answer.) Before his injury, Sengun had become an offensive hub for the Houston Rockets and made strides as a rim protector on what became a top-10 defense. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39916984/nba-roundtable-expert-picks-nba-regular-season-awards
When FVV went down and we had that crushing losing streak, I was thinking 40-42 would be a nice record to finish with. It was the same record Denver finished with when their center was 21. Said center for Denver even finished as 2nd in MIP votes with lesser numbers than our center.
Just one Tweeter's opinion. Others say Jalen is Him and Sengun is done (due to Jalen's hot streak against tanking teams). @coachbadlee Here is some data. (Alpi MUST improve his free-throw shooting and should work on his threes.)
Just one poster's opinion. He obviously missed how much more of a defensive terror the Rockets became when the worst pick and roll defender in the league was no longer available and the infinitely more switchable Jabari took over.
Sengun has looked like a max contract player. But, restricted free agency is nearly risk free for the team. Player's just don't turn down the potential for max money to become unrestricted free agents in this era. So, with his low cap hold it would be incredibly stupid to give him the extension this summer vs waiting til the end of next year. It has nothing to do with other players' extension eligibility. If anything, waiting to sign later gives the rockets flexibility in 2025 free agency and is a net benefit to Sengun.
