    Run DMC because they made it possible for all the others. They took rap from a niche genre into the mainstream.

    My vote is for ATCQ. Definitely a VERY influential group for a lot of the better artists today.

    Oh yeah, duos should definitely be included, it just didn't occur to me right away. I guess I was basing my Blackstar pick on personal preference, rather than influence/stature/etc. Every choice in this thread has been great.

    Does anyone remember that Flava Flav was in Public Enemy? Most overrated group ever -- a few classic songs in a very narrow time span.

    Definitely not the best, but I'm gonna throw this out there cause I think they're pretty underrated. How about Nappy Roots? They haven't really been relevant for a while, but I've liked almost everything they've put out. Not the cleverest rhyme schemes or anything, but just some real authentic southern flow and I've always liked their production.

    Don't know some of the ones y'all listed, but def NWA for me. Always grew up listening to mainstream stuff, and NWA had a HOF roster. Dre, Ice Cube, Easy-E...Now that's some legends right there.
