And I think you misunderstand, the things she runs on are actually popular.

In the abstract, sure...and that's why the abstract is all that is ever talked about. If they ever got down to talking about specifics, including price tags to go along with all of the "free stuff" that she wants to give away and all of the programs she wants to create, things would change.

How wrong is it that she is being celebrated for all of her accomplishments at such a young age, and yet I only clicked on this thread hoping for pics?

It would be nice if both sides worry about knowledge for government position, especially higher up position such as... humm ... POTUS. It also would be nice if we can talk about being honest and knowing one own limits. Those are pretty good characters in my book. You can learn new skills and obtain new knowledge, but it's hard to break old habits, especially habits such as dishonesty (or just simply a pathological liar) and having no awareness of own limitation, and a lack of basic decency.

p.s. this game of picking a good character for the right is foolish... the left need to not worry about what the right think, but what they can bring to the people.

What I think is that the left is as hypocritical and inconsistent as a group as has ever existed. The left would have ripped into any conservative that said what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said.

She is running for public office where she will be tasked to sit on committees and vote on policies and law that will impact our foreign allies such as Israel. Every interview is a job interview at this point.

What I think is that every candidate is far game to be criticized when they say stupid stuff. You won’t find me defending President Trump when he says stupid stuff.

I find it odd although not surprising that the same group of people that cheer when Sarah Sanders and her family get chased from a restaurant get defensive when someone on the left ruining for Congress gets made fun of for their lack of knowledge in the job they are trying to win.

And for the record, I don’t think the VP has more power than a congressman, do you? So I would think you would want to hold a prospective congressman to the same standards of knowledge as a prospective VP.

    Either
    • you do not understand what socialism is or
    • you do not understand that all Congress-critters are socialists or
    • your hatred for all thing Deomocratic has blinded you to "facts"
Your choice. None of which make you look good. But you be you.

Not a few Americans have a rapture centric view of Israel, which speaks volumes for itself.

The Justice Democrats' platform isn't perfect, but it is pretty much the most populist thing we have going in America right now.

ENACT A FEDERAL JOBS GUARANTEE -- The idea of the government finding/creating work for people who otherwise cannot find it could be great, but it's too easy to see it spiraling out of control and just becoming a giant counter-productive mess or a giveaway. Perhaps the federal government could focus on certain locales where the unemployment rate was far above the national average and look to establish some programs to get people moving again. This sounds more like an advertising slogan than an actual policy. A chicken in every pot, yo. Popular but impractical.

SECURE A LIVING WAGE AND TIE IT TO INFLATION -- Minimum wage increase is long overdue, and the fact it isn't tied to inflation is a joke. Very popular and sensible position.

CREATE THE RENEWABLE ENERGY REVOLUTION -- Investing in non-fossil energy is popular and practical.

BUILD THE NEW NEW DEAL -- Infrastructure investment is also popular and practical.

BLOCK BAD TRADE DEALS -- A double-edged sword, but it's become increasingly clear that the lower cost of goods has not been worth the absolute gutting of our manufacturing center.

END TAX DODGING AND LOOPHOLES -- Makes for a good campaign slogan but in reality it's far more complex. Popular but impractical.

END UNNECESSARY WARS AND NATION BUILDING -- Incredibly popular and very practical.

HEALTHCARE AS A RIGHT -- Popular and practical.

TUITION-FREE PUBLIC COLLEGES AND TRADE SCHOOLS -- Popular and practical.

DEFEND SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, AND MEDICAID -- Popular but somewhat impractical (SS especially).

ENSURE PAID VACATION TIME, SICK TIME, FAMILY LEAVE, CHILDCARE -- Popular and practical.

FIGHT FOR RACIAL JUSTICE -- Meaningless virtue signal for liberals.

PROTECT WOMEN’S RIGHTS -- Reproductive rights are popular, Planned Parenthood is popular, "wage fairness" is not popular (or practical).

    COMBAT HOMELESSNESS -- ???

LAW ENFORCEMENT REFORM -- Popular and practical. For profit criminal justice sucks.

ENACT COMMON-SENSE GUN REGULATION -- Popular but undetermined practicality.

ABOLISH ICE -- Not popular but very practical and given time I believe this will be the default American position.

END CORRUPTION -- Getting money out of politics and reducing corporate influence in Washington. Popular and practical.

STOP CONSTITUTIONAL OVERREACHES -- Shutting down Gitmo, reeling in the NSA, protecting whistleblowers. Popular and practical.

REFORM OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM -- Not sure if popular but definitely practical. Our system is currently a super criminal merry-go-round with sky high recidivism rates. More rehabilitation, less incarceration.

IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM -- Popular but the JDs do not lay out any basic tenants for this "new" system.

NO LONGER SELL ARMS TO HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS -- Not sure this is high on most voters' radar but sure.

END THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS -- Very popular and practical.

ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY -- Not popular (yet) but trending that way, also very practical.

OPPOSE BIGOTRY -- Meaningless virtue signal for liberals.

DEFEND NET NEUTRALITY -- Very popular and practical.

She's crazy, young and fit. Winning combo.

I for one welcome the over throw of decades long incumbents. You have to trust the electorate. If things like this happen even without term limits something great is happening.

I typically support term limits because of how much of an advantage there is with fundraising and shady contacts but if pure democracy gets them out even better.

The VP is first in line of succession, should the President pass away. John McCain would have been the oldest president ever elected. The VP, traditionally, is also supposed to have an important advisory role to the President on executive matters. Why do you think we have VP candidate debates on prime time TV every four years?

So, yes, of course I think the VP should be expected to be more familiar with international matters than a House freshman. I’m astounded you think differently.

And casts the deciding vote in a 50-50 senate, so just based on that alone....What a weird comment.

I'm all for diversity of political opinions in the House instead of having 2 blocks of representatives who march lockstep within their own orbits. Need more conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans

Bobbie, calm down you will feel better when you and your relatives make $15/hr, have Medicare for All and no student loans.
I suspect Crash also liked to spread around photoshopped pictures of Obama with a bone in his nose.
Bobbie, relax. You and your relatives will feel better once they get used to $15/hr. Medicare for All, College without student loans and more than a few days of vacation for year. Y'all can still dream of winning the mega lottery and dream of the lifestyle of the celebrities. Y
BTW what would you know about "moderates"

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. Politics is an industry that rewards irrational self-confidence. Look at all the know-it-all dumbasses we have in high office today. Voters need to have confidence that their elected official is highly capable, and voters will not have confidence in someone who does not project self-confidence. You can perhaps celebrate the humility if you're already a fan of hers. But, she is going do much better with undecideds by projecting confidence than she will by projecting humility. She can go be humble on her own time, not when she's campaigning. I think she goofed politically.

please outline the similarities between being a candidate for a seat in the house vs being a candidate for vice president. or maybe context is part of your problem, no? you can't seem to distinguish the differences in the two.

btw i'd rather have someone who admits to their limitations but seems willing to learn then have someone tell me they can "see russia from there house" and use that as their basis as self-proclaimed expertise.

Not that she didn't say numerous woefully idiotic things during the campaign, but she didn't say that (Tina Fey on SNL).
