You're in denial if you don't think the Jags could (or should) up and leave at any time.... the NFL would happily supply the lease fee if needed (but any prospective new owner already plans on spending more than a billion of his own money regardless of what its for.... hell, McNair paid a billion for the Texans and that was 12 years ago).

It won't be about attendance (even though Jacksonville doesn't really have that going for them). It will be about the teams ability to generate long-term revenue, comparable to others, in that market.

Yes, Buffalo is smaller... but they have nearby Toronto as a fan base (where they play 2 games every year), and have been entrenched in that market for over 50 years.

The bottom line is what's best for the league... and having a team in LA or even London makes a lot more $$$ for the league than having a team in Jacksonville.

With only one game a week, travel for the games isn't the biggest issue.

Its attracting players who would have to live overseas if that's where they choose to practice. Its figuring out what time their games would need to be played in order to maximize viewing overseas (they probably wouldn't do very well in Sunday and Monday night games, since most of the country will be asleep).

I could see them allowing the team to practice in the US, and fly over just for the games... but that team would seemingly be playing a road game every single week, and have virtually zero connection to the city.

They need to build a stadium in San Marcos for a Central Texas NFL team.

Decently close to San Antonio and Austin. I don't think they have Arlington money or that city that the 9ers are moving to. Always imagined a stadium next to the race track but it would have to be privately funded. Still don't think UT could kill a stadium deal practically speaking.
