A day late, but seven years ago yesterday we witnessed a special moment in Houston Astros baseball. A team started 15-30 and went on a 74-43 run all the way to the World Series. It almost feels like it was a lifetime ago when you had a pitching staff that included Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite ( both before the steroid scandals), and Roy Oswalt. It was a true joy to watch players like Berkman, Burke, Ensberg, Biggio, and Everett represent this great city of Houston. I'll never forget that home run Burke hit in the 18th inning, and Berkman's clutch grand slam. Even Brandon Backe, who struggled a bit that year, threw 6 scoreless innings in the clinching Game 4 of the World Series. Great memories. Here's to you 2005 Houston Astros.

The 2003 Tigers lost well over 100 games...3 years later they won the AL pennant. It doesn't have to be a 20 year process if you're building the right way. That plus the injection of Comcast money are reasons to believe the Astros can get it turned around sooner rather than later.

It doesn't say he's out of the game and it's not like he flamed out as Burke and Everett did. AE is still one of my favorite Astros ever. Probably the most underrated from the time he was called up. He should have won the Gold Glove every season he played.
