Not sure if this warrants a new thread, but I'm just estatic for whoever called 610AM and talked to Carroll Dawson about the usher that kept asking the Red Rowdies and those close to them to sit down during the game! If it's someone here, you're awesome! I'll be there wednesday, I doubt I'll sit much.
He sounded shocked and asked for the section he was in and said he would look into it. He sounded very upset at that.
as beautiful as the arena is, they overlooked one thing... fans need an atmosphere that is encouraging to them to act like a damn fool! too many times people watch the game from the bar or restaurant or lounge or whatever else is there, instead of from there seat. then they get ushers telling them to sit down so other ppl can see... the rowdies were a wonderful idea. THANK YOU JVG! THANK YOU TMAC! HOWEVER, there needs to be more! tmac can afford more rowdies than JVG can. Jho, on his fat salary can afford some rowdies too. INFACT, i say urge sura to retire and spend his remaining salary on rowdies to fill up the arena! i bet you we would win 55+ games. easy.
im sure i'm gonna get raked here for saying this. but if i bought season tickets...and they didn't tell me the red rowdies would be in the rows immediately in front of me, meaning i'd have to stand up to watch every minute of rocket basketball when i'm paying that kind of money....i'd be freaking pissed.
The Rockets are looking into this apprently. One option is to not actively sell seats in the two rows immediately behind the Rowdies. Should anybody request those seats, they'll be given all the warnings about visability and encouraged to stand up themselves. We'll see. The Rockets will need to figure out something. When we sit down, it kills our energy. Theoretically we can be just as loud while sitting but in practice we just arn't. So in order to do our jobs at JVG and TMac are paying for, we need to stand ...otherwise it defeats the whole purpose.
If you want to enjoy the game while comfortably sitting in your chair, why spend all that money to begin with? Watch it at home.
i can see madmax's point. i understand it completely. however, if i was going to spend a lot of money on season tickets i would want it to be as close to the rowdies as possible so i can join in the cheering and chanting. i would be pissed if i spent all of that money and an usher told me to sit down!
you know what pisses me off. toyota center is still loud during the wrong times. its louder when they're throwing out t-shirts and watching those stupid ass crabs race on the big screen. quiet during the game
that really annoys me that the only time EVERYBODY stands up is during the t-shirt toss. Last night, with 1:50 left in the game with an uncertain outcome, coming out of a timeout the Rowdies still couldn't get anybody in an entire section to stand up. They just looked as us like idiots (..and truthfully, we are but still). If you can't stand up with <2 minutes of a close game, you just flat out suck. We're working on them. Regarding people behind us, standing SOMETIMES is one thing. But people that pay for season tickets shouldn't be forced to stand 100% of the time which we basically do. So I understand why they'd be pissed. But that ain't my problem. I'M STANDING. The Rockets can figure out what to do with them but we're doing our freaking jobs!!!!!!!!
Actually I would not be opposed if Howard went up to sit with the Red Rowdies periodically during games, it woudl certainly raise his plus minus rating if we counted those minutes for him....
^^ i'll tell you exactly what needs to happen. whoever complains get's thier seats baught next year by tmac for more rowdies!
I thought the atmosphere last night was great. The Rockets have put alot of work into game presentation this year and actually the biggest reason is the brand of basketball we are playing actually gets people excited. I don't care if you have 15,000 Rowdies in the house, if the basketball is boring, no one will be cheering. The Rockets are exciting and that is getting the crowd up and going. Everyone might not be standing, but everyone seems to be clapping and cheering. Now last night I did see something that I am going to address the Rockets about. There was a fan in a Ben Wallace jersey that was standing the entire 3rd quarter. So the fan behin him asked him to sit down, the Wallace fan declined so the 2nd fan got an usher. The fan refused to sit down, then security came to escort that fan out of the arena. Now, how can the Rockets justify paying for tickets to have people in one section to stand the entire game, but then kick someone else out of the arena when someone who paid for their ticket does the same? Something to ponder. What exactly is the Rockets stance on fans standing up in the arena?
sorry about the deceiving title. I ran off to lunch as I posted this. Yeah, CD said he'd look into it. Although, I get the feeling he mistook it as SCREAMING and CHEERING instead of merely standing, which was what the poster said. I'm just excited as heck that we got 11 seats pretty much right behind the rowdies. Look for us to cheer with ya the whole way.
Well people should never tell a fan who is standing and cheering to sit but I think most folks should realize there are right times and wrong times to be going nuts and common curtisey
there you go! I was looking for something like that. If you have a kid behind you, yeah, you might want to think twice before standing the entire game. Try not to ruin the experience of other Rockets Fans. On the other hand, screw it if the people behind you have no enthusiasm and are more interested with the Tshirts, Hotdogs, Nachos, and Joe's Crab Shack's Crab race. I always hated that. I want to see the atmosphere that you see during playoff games, and maybe that happens because ticket prices practically doubles, but the fans cheering is what makes the game that much different on the home court.
