Finally ready to dive into the 4K tv world and really need input on which TV to buy. Price of both models is within $100 so that's not an issue. Personally we've owned a sharp Aquos lcd for 10 years and it's been great but not sure how that translates into the 4K Tvs. I've never owner a Vizio and from my opinion they seem like a lower end brand but I read great reviews on them, just need some input from people who may have a Vizio. No Samsung? I fell into the curved hype when they first came out, and after some initial buyers remorse, it's turned out to be a really good TV.
Not really a fan of Samsung, we bought a 42" and the mother board crapped out in 6 months. That's how we got the other Sharp we have upstairs.
Samsung is one of those brands where the line/model really makes a big difference. They even manufacture entire lines of lesser TV's just for Black Friday.
I bought a Vizio plasma in 2007 and it still has a beautiful picture,its still a great tv.I was recently shopping 4k sets but decided to wait another year and let the tech improve
4k isn't going to make much difference and is way overhyped. I would definitely check out rtings which can give you the exact size and type of TV you should buy based on your viewing distance, budget and what type of use its for. Very happy with my Vizio. Curious how the 4K will come along, but for the quality you get, it's hard to beat the price Vizio offers. If cost isn't a huge issue, I think you could justify going with a higher-end line of televisions, but Vizio's are really great values.
What's the current price difference between a say 55 inch 4k and 55 inch realyl really solid HD but non-4k flat screen? Last I looked was 2 years ago, and it was way too big. Of course, I ended up getting the deal of all deals with an 80 inch Vizio that ultimate was like $1,800 (I ende dup with $350 off because it took them a month longer to ship out then was promised, but the $350 was well worth that!)... whereas there barely were any super large 4ks then... there were some like $5k+ so it was obvious no brainer. I still think 4k is a waste of money at this point. If you simply put the price difference in a mattress you could pull it out in 4 years and buy another tv, at that point 4k which will be way cheaper and actually benefit you a lot more from a clarity perspective at home.
I got my first Vizio last year and I'm impressed with the picture quality and overall usage. The keyboard on the back of the remote is handy. The yahoo app store stuff is a little clunky and doesn't have a great selection, but it has everything I need so it isn't a big deal.
See an OLED in person, Then wait till they are in your price range. I skipped LCD went plasma to OLED. No need to buy a new TV with worse image quality.
Doesn't it matter how close you are sitting in terms of getting 4K? It was the same debate before with 720 and 1080.
I agree with the comments on OLED. If you're going to by a TV for a living/media room right now, then it really should be an OLED that supports HDR. If it's outside of your price range then maybe wait until the holiday season or early next year. As for 4k, you don't notice the difference while watching it. You notice it when watching content in 1080p or less right afterward. At least that's how its been for me. Also, as long as my credit utilization is low at the moment of a large purchase like a TV(which it would be or I wouldn't be buying electronics), I ALWAYS accept 0% interest deals. If they're going to lend me money for free, then I will gladly take.
Wait another year for 4k OLED to get cheaper and for more content to be available. Also wait for the format war winner between HDR and Dolby Vision. Some tv's like LG have both HDR and DV, but most are supporting one or the other.
