It's the o-line. If he had better players around him it would be different.

I think this whole thing is irresponsible speculation.

Whoops, apparently Crouch won it that year. That heisman ballot was full of failure QBs... Dorsey, Crouch, Carr, Harrington....

Wouldn't call Crouch a failure at all, everyone knew he wouldn't be a qb in the NFL. That's like calling Tommy Frazier, James Street or a host of others failures.

To me, the 49ers season hit rock bottom the week they were chanting: "We Want Carr!!" Apparently they don't want any anymore.

This is really all very unfair to David.

    He just needs more time.

    His dog ate his mittens.

Its also because of all those darn offensive coordinators he had. He could never get comfortable! Poor guy.

I like Troy Smith. He's played well in him limited action. I thought he should have been the Ravens starter before they got Flacco.

    ???

I guess we can call it a failure for the heisman voters?

If you are "the best football player in the NCAA" it isnt hard to expect that person to have at least some sembelance of an NFL career, injury not withstanding.

Entirely different games. Troy Smith was a 6th round pick. The fact that he is still on a roster is a success as a 6th round pick.

Crouch suffered from injuries and an unwillingness to play WR.

If they chose the Heisman trophy based on who they thought would make the best NFL player, Crouch/Smith/Dorsey would not have been finalists.

That sounds about right to me.

But is that really who they end up voting for? 70% of the time it's "the QB of the team that finished #1 in the rankings" and 30% of the time it's "the most prolific scorer on a team that finished in the top 5 of the BCS rankings"

Heismen voters are even more formulaic and locked inside a box than the jokes that determine the Oscars and Emmys.

Just hearing that name mentioned gives me PTSD.

Every time I get pissed off at the current version of the Texans, I remind myself of this:

It gives me the perspective I need to get back to enjoying being a Texans fan.
