2024 Oscar Nominations

The 96th Academy Awards nominations have just been announced this morning by hosts Jack Quaid and Zazie Beetz and “Oppenheimer” lead the pack with thirteen nominations.

it was followed by “Poor Things” with eleven, “Killers of the Flower Moon” with ten, “Barbie” with eight,” “Maestro” with seven, “Anatomy of a Fall” with six; and “The Zone of Interest,” “The Holdovers” and American Fiction” with five each.

Snub wise the lack of Margot Robbie for actress and Greta Gerwig for directing for “Barbie,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” missing animated film, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse” only scoring one nomination at all, and actors like Charles Melton and Greta Lee not getting nominated.

Welcome surprises included America Ferrera scoring an acting nomination for “Barbie” along with “Anatomy of a Fall” landing a screenplay and directing nod. Even more unexpected was Ridley Scott’s mixed reviewed “Napoleon” landing three nominations.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hold this year’s Academy Awards on March 10th. The Oscars will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

This year’s Best Picture list includes three films that earned over $100 million each at the box-office. Here is the full list of nominees:

Seen 7 out of the 10 so far, for best picture I'd assume Oppenheurimer is the odds on favorite. I'm still kind of surprised about complaining about a movie's length when the streaming binge model has been huge for years, to each their own. Have said that, I didn't think Oppenheimer felt 3 hours long while Killers of the Flower Moon did feel every bit of its runtime....
