People were complaining about increasing TE production, well that's bound to happen when TEs outnumber the rest of the roster
Macafee clearly did a few lines of booger sugar probably with Irsay before going up and announcing that pick
Texans don't even use their tight ends (except as extra linemen) Yeah, if it was Kubiak, yeah take Owen Daniels and James Casey and Anthony Hill and Garrett Graham and Dorin Dickerson.
Fells and Griffin won't make the team. Fells was signed on a 1 year contract.....no assurance he would make the team.
[Premium Post] Gaine's draft strategy this year has been to swing for the fences with high ceiling, low floor type players. Let's call is the Luis Valbuena (RIP) approach to drafting. Players who are relatively new to the position (Howard, Warring), from small schools (Howard, Scharping), or who haven't gotten a lot of reps so their learning curve is still developing and a lot of tread is on the tire (Jackson, Warring). What we haven't gone after are established studs with good track records (higher floor players). High upside, but bust potential is there. It's almost like he's building a venture capital portfolio -- expecting some to be amazing performers and others to not work out. If we get two above average starters from the first 4 picks, then that's probably an acceptable outcome. GOOD DAY
I have been saying it since last draft and I might have been alone; the only draft pick that Gaine has made that has been really impressive so far is Justin Reid. And that was an early first rounder that "fell into his lap". I thought Rankin was an odd pick as a G/C on a team with 3 other G/C players. I honestly didnt know who Akins was before he was drafted. He was not the best available TE. thought Coutee was too early. Jordan Thomas was also odd when they just drafted another TE in the 3rd. This year, I'm seeing the same thing. Picking earlier than projected, picking positions that are crowded, and leaving talent on the board. I know it is way too early to talk about how well a draft class does but I dont understand the people that say he has drafted well.
