I posted this in the Crawfish Boxes, and thought I'd share here for those tracking Alvarez, and Tucker: To avoid Super Two, a prospect needs to be called up after 187 – [Super Two days]. In the last 10 seasons (below), the number of Super Two days ranged from 122 to 146. A high number like 146 means a lot of rookies were called up early, playing a whopping 146 days of the season versus a conservative year like 122, thus the cut off date would be earlier. So if we use a conservative number like 120 for 2019, then 187 – 120 = 67. For 2019, 67 days after the season started, March 28, brings us to June 3 as the date. Given the potential $20M savings as provided in the Crawfish article, teams may want to wait until mid-June. 2018: 2.134 2017: 2.123 2016: 2.131 2015: 2.130 2014: 2.133 2013: 2.122 2012: 2.140 2011: 2.146 2010: 2.122 2009: 2.139 What's also interesting is that Kyle Tucker's service time is 51, so that would mean the Astros wait until July 24 to avoid his Super Two if I calculated that right. That’s a lot of pressure for him to perform the next two months (and the last two), and why the Astros will seem to be very patient. Who knows, if he's been pressing too much, it could be a factor. Edit: As noted elsewhere, the Astros are projecting service time, but there's only so much they can predict if a slew of players will be sent back down and for how long.
It's known as the Chicken Church, built in the 40s. Now back to the regularly scheduled thread topic.
Ok, easy there. We're all friends here. I stated I just reposted it, so I didn't take the time to remove the parts that were previously shared, and figured it'd be nice to have it all in one place for anyone trying to understand the whole thing. Tucker's service time date cut off date, the estimated savings potential for waiting, the listing of the last 10 years of service time, calculating Alvarez's cut off date based on that (yes, I know you estimated May 31, was NOT trying to one up you), displaying how to do the calculations so people can do it on their own... I figured was worth sharing. Mad respect for your work Buck.
I just learned how Church's Chicken started up here with 3 locations, then franchises....It's a solid story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church's_Chicken
Lardass David Wells is about to pitch a perfect game against the Twins 20 years ago... ETA: Did it. In Yankee Stadium.
Yeah, he knew Jayson signed. That's how the convo started since I was wearing an Astros cap. He said Schroeder was 18 y/o and already a millionaire from the contract. Met another guy in Denver 2014 who played in the minors with George Springer. He raved about him and said guys who achieve the majors are "so f***** good". Said I couldn't imagine how good they were. Dude was jacked and looked like an athlete. He was a pitcher who'd injured his elbow and showed how he could no longer extend his arm fully straight to an 180° angle. Takes plenty skill plus some luck (namely avoiding injury) to make it.
1B Scott Schreiber was promoted to High A. OF Ramiro Rodriguez was promoted to Quad Cities from extended spring training.
Hey guys. So with service time we probably won’t see Alvarez until the middle of June. Castro, if it deserves its own thread, feel free to move it.
Tucker is hitting .306/.385/.729 with 10 home runs and six steals (on six attempts) over his last 98 plate appearances for Triple-A Round Rock.
For some context on how valuable Tuckers combo of speed/power/defense could be, only 6 players who spent significant time in RF last season hit 20+ HR and had 10+ SB: Yelich Harper Betts Polanco Puig McCutcheon
