Who homered tonight Jack Mayfield (16, 2-run) Kyle Tucker (25, 3-run) Chas McCormick, twice (10; 2-run and 3-run) Granden Goetzman (15, solo) Scott Manea (7, 2-run) Jonathan Arauz (8, 3-run)
Jonathan Arauz hit a three-run home run (8) for Fayetteville to give them a 5-4 lead over Potomac in the second game of their doubleheader and it turned out to be the deciding hit. Humberto Castellanos got the win in game two as he allowed a hit and struck out four over three scoreless innings. In 58 innings spread across three levels this season, Castellanos has walked 7 (one intentionally) and struck out 67. The majority of his work has come with Quad Cities (14 relief appearances); he's appeared in three games with Round Rock and this was his fifth appearance for Fayetteville.
Too lazy to read through the thread and see if anyone has posted this already but BA released their mid-season update earlier this week and the Astros were ranked 5th in the organizational rankings behind SD, TB, TOR and ATL. The A's, Angels and Mariners were all bunched together in the 11-15 range with the Rangers coming in at 25th (hopefully they keep winning around the same clip they are now so they aren't really dangerous but are still in it and therefore keep Minor, etc.). Anyhow, here are the rankings for the Astros. Spoiler Whitley (prior ranking 4, new ranking 8) - I find it odd he is still so high and humorous that he's above Yordan Yordan (prior 20, new 9) Tucker (prior 9, new 13) Martin J.B. Abreu Nova Beer Solis Toro Stubbs Urquidy Pena Straw Javier Rojas Dawson Lee Arauz Kessinger Bielak Ivey Rogelio A. Brewer Paredes Dubin Santana M. Ramirez Solomon Torres
It's as if the 2019/2020 rotation prospects are daring the FO to trade them for a fourth starter. What did they put in the water a week ago? July 20 Urquidy 7IP 2H 1R 1BB 9K, Bielak 7IP 1H 0R 2BB 7K July 19 Abreu 4IP 2H 0R 0BB 7K July 18 Bukauskas 6IP 7H 1R 2BB 9K, Tyler Ivey 3IP 0H 0R 1BB 2K July 17 Paredes 6IP 3H 0R 2BB 9K July 16 Sneed 7IP 5H 0R 1BB 7K
Wonder if that means they're keeping Gayle as a reliever? Krabbe went 4-5 with his first pro HR, he probably shouldn't be in the GCL.
Yohan Ramirez: 5 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 4 K; this was the first time that he recorded fewer strikeouts than innings pitched this season.
I honestly don't know what to make of this, Pereira started the year in the DSL. Normally I assume that massive jumps like that are not a good sign for the player, but he's 22, so this could be a challenge to see how he does vs age appropriate competition.
Is there anything in particular that makes Kyle Tucker prone to slumps with his swing? I just saw he's hitting .231 with a .738 OPS over the last 28 days.
Jeremy Peña just hit his first home run with Fayetteville. The solo shot gives him 6 homers on the year between both A clubs.
