J.C. Correa is returning to Lamar for his senior year.

He just gave up all his leverage though...have fun signing a $10,000 deal like all the other seniors

He's a 38th round courtesy redraft. What leverage?

I know nothing about him, but his numbers were pretty good for Lamar this year. It will be interesting to see if Houston drafts him again next year and if they actually try to develop him.

Prematurely excited, but I think Houston could have 3 future everyday position players in Lee, Kessinger, and Brewer. If nothing else, all 3 of those guys are each already the best prospect at their position in the Astros system (Lee at catcher, Kessinger at 2B, and Brewer at CF).

He could have maximized his earning potential and signed for $100k. Next year even if he has another good year I doubt a team offers more than $25k since he'll be a senior.

I think it may be a play/ploy by the astros to get Carlos to resign when he's up by having his brother in the system and possibility that they could play with each other. I think the Astros miscalculated though, they should have taken him in the 10th round and given him slot money instead of just the $100k late round money to show the Correas respect by saying "hey, we value JC enough to use our bonus pool on him."

JC Correa being in Houston’s system (or not) will have zero bearing on what Carlos Correa does in free agency.

It’s common to use picks in the 30-40th rounds to do favors for org employees, but it’s pretty obvious JC is not a legitimate prospect (otherwise he would have been drafted earlier, since as a junior signability is not a major issue), so it is appropriate for Houston to have drafted him that late. I’m fact, I think they went above and beyond by drafting him a 2nd time.

Just because Houston can offer $125k doesn't mean they would offer $125k. No pittance that could be offered JC is going to effect CC. If they valued him as a top prospect they would have drafted him accordingly.

I get what you're saying, it's moreso the gesture so that CC thinks the Astros are doing right by him and his family. But CC understands it's a business, doubt he gives us a hometown discount.

Any news on my pet cat Zach Biermann? College senior with no eligibility, so I'd think he would sign, right? But no word. Hope he does, he seems like a good person and a potential steal.

Your cat got drafted? I’m not surprised tbh. So many rounds to this draft.
