tmacfor35 should know something about not getting out of the first round. Tmac was an expert at that.

This is a very good post. The only person talking about athleticism is a broken record in every USMNT thread.

Gulati still hasn't resigned? Just another corrupt crony who won't give up power he doesn't deserve.

USA has plenty other sports which our best athletes compete in.

Still think we should always qualify and do better than we've done.

    Call me cocky.

Or perhaps you can hack in Europe and aren't nearing retirement BUT you receive a salary offer that's every bit the equal or more than you were making or set up to make in Europe.

That's the reality for a number of MLS USMNT players that came back from Europe. (Bradley, Jozy and Clint).

from playing in a retirement league. The MLS is a gimmick league with gimmick players. It doesn't foster greatness.

Clint is alright, Jozy is average, Bradley is legit sht. The talent on US is pretty bad, MLS talents is inferior to the league in Europe.

All due respect to some of your other smarter posts, this is one of the sillier ones that other partial soccer fans usually spout.

Those three players have never been scrubs. Specifically the first two.
You can say Jozy failed in England(as did Bradley when he made his idiotic move to Villa) but several great players in world football failed in England.

Dempsey is one of the best outfield players America has ever had. Dempsey is probably the best American outfield player to ever play in the premier league(respect to McBride). Bradley was actually quite a good player in his time in the Bundesliga and Serie A.

Lastly... who are these younger more talented players that could have been plugged in? There is a dearth of talent right now of American players that should be approaching their peak. Now there are a bunch of quality young players under 21/22 coming through but they won't be ready to peak until another four years.

You do know Europe isn't one big league right? Is the Panamanian league or Honduran league or Icelandic league better than MLS?
We already know the answer so no need to answer that.

Unlike the great Panamanian, Costa Rican and Honduran leagues right? Let's not leave out the Icelandic league and the greatness all those leagues foster.

The MLS bashing is weak and just a tired excuse people use re. the USMNT. They are greater failures than the standard of play in the league.

From leadership at USSF to technical directors leading the youth programs to ACTUAL COACHES of the US youth programs and MLS teams. The standard of play isn't as big an issue as all those other things.

So that's just your immediate anger at the result.

This won't set Soccer in terms of talent development and scouting, back or any further back than it already was. In terms of eyes watching games on TV, it might set back the number of people watching group stage matches but it won't affect EPL viewers, Bundesliga and La Liga viewers, Champions League viewers etc.

Question. How did France missing out on USA 94 set French Football back? That's right it didn't. They regrouped and got their **** together in time for their hosting the WC in 98. The same can and will happen with the USA.
Sometimes one needs to be dropped to the floor before getting their **** together. That's precisely what I see happening to a US Soccer system that had grown too arrogant and comfortable while ignoring the issues bubbling up at the youth level and administrative level.

So this is my biggest problem with American soccer fans and just Americans in general as they react to US Soccer.

SIZE OF A COUNTRY DOESN'T MEAN **** in World Football!!!!

If it did then China and India would be absolutely dominant and just teeming with quality players constantly being discovered from their every growing population.

That's not the case. There's a reason countries like Holland(not this cycle obviously), Belgium(the past 7 or 8 years), Uruguay, Portugal, etc. do well. It has nothing to do with the population size .

This is an absolute travesty no other way to put it. Clearly these ****ing idiots didn't eat enough avocado toast before the game. Absolute bs, and this could set back support for soccer in this country by 30 years. We've taken so many steps forward in the fight to become a respectable program and now we are literally no better than T&T.
