Just glad to see he's getting innings and K's so far, this season seemed like a total loss at one point.
I think JBB starts next season in Corpus and has a very good chance of making an impact with the big club. His stuff is too damn good.
I dunno. I kinda wanna see him do a "Lance McCullers in Lancaster" move and throw nothing but change-ups and other stuff he's not already perfected next year and then emerge in 2020 ready for a trial in the ML rotation. He could probably already jump into the ML bullpen now with his stuff.
Does Framber Valdez have a third pitch? He appears to have thrown only two-seam and four-seam fastballs along with his curve last night. Both the two-seam and curve look like excellent ground ball producers but it's hard to see him as a legitimate SP prospect if those are his only legitimate offerings.
J.J. Matijevic has two homers so far for Buies Creek, giving him 20 on the season between both A clubs.
Glad he's getting extra base hits. I was worried during his second week of professional ball that he was a wasted draft pick.
Juan Ramirez hit his first professional HR in the GCL, but it won't count since the game got cancelled. He's had a pretty disappointing season overall since he was repeating the league, but has turned it on a bit of late.
I just saw Houston signed OF Granden Goetzman, who was a 2nd rd pick in 2011 by the Rays. He is on the GCL roster. Never made it past AAA, had been released by the Rays and signed by the Cardinals before getting released in June. Looking at his fangraphs page, he must’ve battled injuries throughout his career, as he only played over 100 games once in 7 seasons. His best season would’ve been 2014 when he dominated A ball as a 21 year old before struggling after being promoted to High A. Played mostly LF. Never hit more than 8 HR in a season. Other than the former draft status and the fact that he’s only 25, not sure there’s much to like.

WIshed he would have done that in the major when he was given three base loaded opportunities but showed nothing for it
Quick look at the records of the minor league teams ... Outstanding for the #10 rated minor league system. Systems get rated for their top 20 talent. The records of the Astros's minor teams indicates that the Astros have incredible depth in the minor leagues. Possibly a greater set of talent from which to have break prospects to emerge.
