Alex McKenna with another HR, his 5th of the season, his 3rd straight game with a HR. He also has 4 SB. Looks like he could be a 20/20 threat in CF, although I know nothing about his defense and at 6’2” 200 lbs I’m skeptical he will be able to stay in CF. But so far he looks like a great pick.
Hi all - does anyone have a good guess who will pitch for Corpus Friday? I live in Frisco and am debating heading to the game to see Correa, and would love to know who else I might see...
If they follow the same order they've been doing, it could be Bielak, but it's hard to know how their pitching schedules go with the tandem setup, especially with 2 pitchers getting traded off the roster. It's also possible they'll sit Correa on Friday if they don't want him playing back to back games in his first action back in a while.
Ah, I didn't think about that ... well, I already bought the tickets, so we'll just have to get there early and try to get the kids an autograph or a picture of Carlos! Thanks for the reply.
Brandon Bailey went 8IP 1H 0R 1BB 8K. His 5th straight scoreless start. Especially with Alcala and Perez being traded, I would expect that's his last in Buies Creek.
Brock Dykxhoorn was demoted to AA, which is odd since he has been pretty good since moving up to AAA, but makes sense because Fresno has a full rotation since adding Brady Rodgers and Corpus had 2 SP traded away.
This might shock you, but he didn't allow a hit. Jaquez has given up 10 hits in 39 innings this season.
One interesting note I read today: playing across 3 positions in 42 games so far this season (1B, RF, LF), Seth Beer has yet to commit an error.
Finished 3.0 IP 1H 0R 0BB 6K I watched the last two innings. He looks pretty athletic, but pitches exclusively from the stretch, and the delivery looks a little rushed. He struggled a bit with fastball location vs the lefties I saw him face (the hit was a soft little liner a lefty poked the other way) but righties looked more or less helpless against him. Blew the FB by pretty much everyone the first time they saw it, and got some pretty disheartened swings on his breaking ball. Seems like he'll need to be protected this off-season for sure.
MLB.com ranks the Astro's farm system #9 9. Astros Preseason rank: unranked Top 100 Prospects (3): RHP Forrest Whitley (No. 7), OF Kyle Tucker (No. 8), OF Yordan Alvarez (No. 41) Astros Top 30 list Prospect points : 247 (6th) Whitley is the game's best pitching prospect and he and Tucker rival Tatis/Gore (Padres) and Jimenez/Kopech (White Sox) as the best hitter/pitcher prospect duo. Alvarez is another potent corner-outfield bat and could be the Astros' long-term solution at first base. Houston is showing a knack for getting the most out of its young pitchers, with LHP Cionel Perez and RHPs Corbin Martin and Josh James among those who have taken their game to a new level this year.
Derek Fisher not playing today in Fresno? Am I the only one thinking Devo goes to the DL, then Fisher gets called up for a game or two in LA before coming down to make room for Osuna? Or maybe it's just a regular off day.
