While they are all cackling at the sky, raising their arms like the Night king, I keep trying to tell my people in Houston this thing is going to go until Tuesday or Wednesday.

I would keep an eye on the next rain band that's taking shape south of Houston

In Spring Branch, hadn't seen rain in about 7 hours. It's pouring now.

WHat's the best radar site? I've seen ones that let you zoom in to a pretty small area, not finding what I've seen in the past right now.

Thanks that one seems higher resolution. I just need to see the county lines to figure out exactly where I am, & I don't see them there. edit nm I can zoom in enough to see my town.

Accuweather, is the one I think I'd seen before. But should be raining where I am, colors all over me, and it's not. Weird.

Even if you just got your info from local news, it's been pretty clear for a while that the actual hurricane was never the threat for Houston, it's the potential rain afterwards. Ive had so many txts asking if I think this is over which really make me wonder what people are looking at.

WunderMap is the best, IMO - turn on Radar & Hurricanes, turn off Weather Stations.

What a relief! We were on the edge of our seats with worry, gazing out the backyard windows and expecting a wall of water at any moment. When I believed we were facing the end, I kept thinking of one thing to cheer me up. That the deluge would hit DaDakota's house first, with DD standing tall and broad in his front yard waving a stick and yelling, "You shall not pass!"

Now where did I put that Scotch...

I think what has people incorrectly breathing a sigh of relief is that we're already under our prospective rainfalls numbers. They are still going up around town, but there was an expectation of 8-10 inches today, and a lot of town is going to end up with 3-4 inches. The next 24 hours is key. According to Eric Berger, the key test is overnight. If we can stay well below 5 inches for most of Houston tonight, we might not get those giant numbers on all the maps.
