I get to fly there next week for power grid infrastructure inspection. I was supposed to be there now. I'm thrilled. I've had 2 days off since Harvey and Irma hit. Tired of this ****. Really hoping the eyewall prediction of 10 miles stays true. Puerto Rico's grid system is already in fail mode. This is going to take years and years to fix their infrastructure and the government is broke. Just sucks.
We must be getting jaded to hurricanes. Puerto Rico has been pummeled by Maria. http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/20/americas/hurricane-maria-caribbean-islands/index.html
Speaking with PRTC engineers and they're saying a lot of the island won't get electricity for 6-8 month's and water for 4-5 months. They never bothered to update their grid system while everyone has been warning them and offering to help as it was a necessity, and they ignored it. This is what they get and we get to bail them out. Their government is a sham.
That's pathetic. I can't believe how incompetent the government has been there. They've screwed everybody.
It's incredibly sad to hear about the sorry state of the PR"s electrical grid and water system. This is though an opportunity to build a better grid taking advantage of all of the new technology that has developed since the original gird was built.
@justtxyank I remember last time highway 6 and Eldridge got flooded you seemed to have the info before I did. Which site(s) did you use to find out when those roads would be open?
this rain right now is triggering my PTSD First thing I keep thinking about is my home (got flooded and under repair) and now I have sweaty palms.
Can Puerto Rico survive with 30+ Billion in damages or are we about to get a massive number of refugees?
Tragically we don't know yet how many have died in Puerto Rico and more will likely die in Puerto Rico in the next few weeks. With no power or potable water in a tropical climate it's with many cut off from aid it is going to be very rough for much of PR. If they can't get the infrastructure working in months many will opt to leave than to try to tough it out.
