Yer killin in brah. I can't disagree except need to rephrase Harden's statement to big booty stripper's thong.
I think , when we look back at this decision, it will be viewed favorably. I don't know how an evacuation could have been enacted , but it's hard to imagine a scenario where people aren't trapped on the roads when they start to flood.
Ok someone calculate the timeframe we would have had to evacuate. When did the storm intensify enough to where evacuating was an option? How long would it take 6.5 million people to flee the city? When did flood waters start rising on the roadways? We have some past data from Rita. Yes people had to be rescued but Mayor is right..it would have been much worse with millions stranded on the highway!
On top of that, those vehicles that ran out of gas, broke down or submerged with water wouldve just clogged up all the boat lanes/waterways for the rescuers and national guard to efficiently move to and from.
Bagging on Watt is just pathetic. He's done nothing but good for our city since the day he got here. Yes, he likes the spotlight...but it's what he does with it that makes him loved by many. If he can use his celebrity to help, why in the name of f*** would anyone be against that? I don't know why y'all haven't ignored the clown that is FTW.
It is kind of weird that he is asking us to donate instead of just straight up donating himself though. No doubt that les stole the show here
He also made light of the Memorial Day floods closing down his workout gym, something he's repeated again this time. Also has made plenty of racist remarks about Muslims. He's a tool.
Isn't he going to match the donation tho? He has 3.9 million Twitter followers and 2.7 million Instagram followers, that's a lot of potential people that might decide to donate just because he put the word out and set something like this up which means even more money to help the city of Houston and other affected areas.
Some long-range global models have suggested this system may work its way into the Gulf of Mexico in 10 to 12 days time. Frankly, although it’s possible, we don’t think that’s likely to happen. And even if it were to make it into the Gulf of Mexico, the odds are that it won’t affect Houston in a significant way. SCW http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=2 1.
