Internet bet challenges are as stupid as internet fight challenges. So why don't I just come over there and whip your ****ing ass?
Getting his average back near the Mendoza Line and his OPS back near .700 is... a start. Still a long, long way for Daz to rebuild his stock, but it's a start.
He had a 756 OPS in April. May destroyed him, as he put up a godawful 442 ops. Now he's followed that up with a great June. There are only 3 explanations for that kind of fluctuation: He sucks and got lucky in April and June. He was working on a specific weakness/adjustment in May and April/June are more accurate reflections of his talent. He was hurt in May but played through it. The first one is the only option that means he isn't having a successful season, and I think it's the least likely explanation.
Imagine being so bothered about a comment about a minor league baseball player's performance and what the commenter thinks could lie ahead for that player that you have to create a thread to challenge that person to a tipjar bet on an Internet message board.
Back on the rails now, hopefully... Carlos Machado went 2-4 with a solo homer and drove in 2 in the GCL Astros 4-0 win today. The homer is the first of his career. Francisco Villegas allowed a hit and struck out 7 over 4 scoreless innings to get the win.
I don't trust Musgrove until you start seeing his SO numbers improve. His issue here was never getting people to two strikes. It was getting them to swing and miss or just get them out period. I saw way too many hittable pitches in 0-2 counts.
And Snake called me "kind of a dick". If he wasn't Mike Cameron's kid...he's be just another prospect.
That Astros spent 1st round money on. I can't speak for others, but I wouldn't care about him if Astros didn't make a big investment in him. I take investment as Astros see something in him.
Of course they saw something in him, still do, and he's far from a finished product, but if his name was Dave Nobody he wouldn't have the same microscope.
If Dave Nobody signed for first round money, he would be under a microscope. Maybe a few people view him more highly because of his dad, but pretty sure guys signing for 1st round money get followed more closely here than the sons of major leaguers like Clemens did.
Interesting blurb from Ken Rosenthal via MLBtraderumors blog: Not totally surprising given Whitley's production and pedigree, but for him to be that much more untouchable than Martes or Frankie Perez is interesting.
