I'd say Herman was unprepared for Navy's option, but other than that, we've still been as advertised. We adjusted to Navy but too little too late. The 6 turnovers were a lack of concentration and commitment to excellence by the players. And that resulted in the losses. Too casual. injuries have a hurt a little. But all that said, Herman probably still needs a little more seasoning before going to the pay leagues.
Maybe the same thing is happening to Herman that happened to Sumlin, except there are 4 games left instead of 1.
If the coach isn't fully committed, why should the players be? We've seen this before with Sumlin in losing the CUSA championship game. There was already talk of him leaving and talking with TAMU. The team played poor that game, lost the game and their BCS chances were gone.
It seems a lot like that. There's no quicker way to lose the locker room than by telling your team that you are abandoning them at the end of the season and that everything you told them thus far was BS.
I haven't seen where Herman isn't fully committed in any way. I see fans from other schools saying they would like to have him, but I haven't seen where Herman has said he wants to leave. Herman said that?
No clue, but he said he was going to be honest with them, if so, he's told them by now if he plans on leaving them after hyping up building the program. If he's planning on leaving, how else would he say it?
No way the kids don't flock to twitter the minute after he tells them. Herman hasn't told them anything. But doesn't mean the kids dont know or haven't heard what's going on.
Reputation is just like trust; hard to gain but easy to lose... Navy is understandable. They're stout year-in and year-out. No offense to SMU, but football isn't their best sport and they were a 2-4 team.
