As much I have been disappointed with the UH defense, they appear to be improving. We are about to find out how much. As to the offense, you can say what you will, but I think they would hang 30 or 40 on LSU. I think they can score on anybody; two reasons, speed and accuracy. Hard to deal with. Did I mention speed. Most of their scoring plays appeared to be in fast forward.

Keenum when out in third quarter, then their second team sat down in the fourth, the third teamers were taking a knee at the end. Not much else you can do. The game ended with players I have never heard of.

You could've run to your own 1 yard line and then gently set the ball on the ground. That would be the sportsman-like thing to do.

Bet they could score more touchdowns than UA and LSU scored against each other. I know teams like LSU have great defenses, and would slow the Coogs down, but I don't think they could stop them. If UH runs the table on SMU, Tulsa, and Southern Miss, then they may get a chance to prove it. I want the Texas Longhorns.

I am torn. I would love to beat the Longhorns...but if we get a BCS bowl I really would rather have a shot at a solid top #5 team...I don't think the Horns are getting that high this year.

If UH played LSU, LSU would probably score TDs on each and every drive. They would cram the ball down UH's throat. They also have DBs that can cover UH's receivers. Those long "throw it up and let the receiver run underneath" passes would be picked off easily. Not that Keenum would have enough time to get those passes off because he'd get knocked on his behind repeatedly. UH would have to throw underneath, which means LSU would knock the snot out of their receivers.

The athletic difference at the line of scrimmage is more than you realize. I remember way back when UH was #3 and went to Miami to play the Canes. I knew several people who were so confident it made me laugh. It was men against boys. Seems like there were a record number of holding calls against the O-line out of desperation to protect Klingler's life. This would be round 2. The game would be complete humiliation for UH.

It's a great season, but let's not get too carrier away. The only way UH would score 30-40 is if LSU had 60-70 and had 3rd-stringers in the game during of the 2nd half.

We've beaten OSU, UCLA, and nearly beat Alabama. We can play with the big boys. They are bigger, and they are good, but there is substantial evidence that BCS busters and Houston can win at that level. They won't push us arond nearly that much. That's an illusion, especially on the grand stage where ambition and heart level the playing field. Especially when we have our advantage, speed.

Alabama that went 6-6 that year before the bowl...

Honestly though I don't think you can beat Bama/LSU/OSU this year. You could probably beat Stanford/Boise.

It could go either way in a bowl game against an SEC team.
Utah vs Bama several years back where Utah won big OR Hawaii vs Georgia where Hawaii with their top qb Brennan got curb stomped.

UH couldnt hang with LSU,Bama, or Texas... Physical and mental beatdown of massive proportions

You seriously believe UH would have a speed advantage against LSU's defense? They would not. You ever heard of Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu?

javal_lon, Oregon would score over 100 points on UH if they wanted to. It would be a massive beat-down. UH's defense would be dead on it's feet by the 2nd quarter. Their D-line would need respirators.

You mad bro? Wish you were a Cougar? Your team got a number other than zero in the loss column?

I don't have a team. I've lived in Houston over 25 years and I think UH's season is fantastic. I want them to run the table. But they clearly can't hang with any of the top 5 teams with that pathetic defense. Just keeping it real.

Hey, now. If Purdue just wins two of their last three (Iowa, Ohio State, and @Indiana), they're bowl-eligible.

What's sad is they blew the game to Rice. If it weren't for that, all they'd have to do is kick IU last game of the season.

We have beaten everyone on our schedule, most of them handily.

Our defense isn't very good, and is built to handle C-USA spread offenses....guys using speed to substitute for size. So we can handle, to some extent, the Texas Techs and OK States of the world.

LSU and Alabama are ridiculous they have guys with speed and size...and they just have so much depth I think we would deserve to be 17 point dogs to either of them. Our only chance would be the fact they don't see our style of offense much in the SEC...Sumlin would have to put in a ton of new wrinkles before the bowl and hope our defense played a mile over it's head and forced turnovers.

I think we can play within a touchdown any other team in the country. Certainly it is possible I am delusional, but would like to see it on the field.

Do you guys think that a Boise loss to TCU would allow us to jump them in the standings?

If UH doesn't jump Boise if they lose to TCU, I'm going to be rolling my eyes once again at this stupid BCS bull****.
