ROFLMAO!!!!! That's sig worthy right there. Anyway, The top reviewed live action video game film is Prince of Persia which Rotten Tomatoes gave 35%. The first Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat films got 34% positive reviews. The Final Fantasy computer animated film got 43%. I hope for the day when video game adaptations reach the quality that comic book films have attained recently.
i never watched prince of persia. Well, i watched 5 minutes of it and then had to change the channel It is ridiculous that none have been done well
How can you forget Wing Commander?! But in any case, I'm thinking Silent Hill was probably the best of them all and is a little underrated. Mortal Kombat was awesome as a kid, not so much now. Final Fantasy was good but so slow. And I agree with others, there is so much story to these games it would be impossible to fit it all in...even if you're doing say a trilogy. Maybe if they cut Desmond and the animus out, and just focus on the Brotherhood and Templar conflict, it could work. Or even create a standalone spinoff character for the movie.
Is it me or does Fassbender look so much like the dude who played Loki? Facial expressions and everything.

Yeah that music is awful and doesn't fit the story or games at all. Who is doing the the score? They should just get Jesper Kyd to do it with his themes. I highly doubt they would be stupid enough to put modern hip hop anywhere in the real film where it absolutely does not fit. Someone should edit the trailer with the original game themes instead of the kanye music. As far as the trailer itself. I love Fassbender and Cottilard. Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons are awesome too. Acting shouldn't be this movies issues. Adam Arkapaw did an amazing job on the cinematography in Macbeth, but that movie as well as the directors(Justin Kurzel) other movies are terrible. The writers have written a couple of decent screenplays, but more bad than good. The CGI in this trailer makes it look a bit cheap. What was the budget and what is a comparable movie with heavy cgi and the same budget? That might give a good idea of the quality to expect. You'd think they spent most of the budget on the good cast. As of now, it has a 300: Rise of an Empire, Gods of Egypt type of generic movie feel to it. A 6.5/10 type of movie. Hopefully the great acting proves me wrong and the writing surprises.
They look like they are following the game. And I hope that helps me make sense of the games two timelines. But they will need a decent plot to carry the action as I don't think this can be fast and furious like. There is only so much sword fighting one can take. So we'll need a good assassin plotline a-la Hero... outside of the sci fi aspect. I think Dark Souls could be an interesting movie as it has strange creatures, interesting lore, mystery, magic, and action all built in already.
