yea....whole fam lives in neighboorhood...i actually went to memorial, but wife and nephews are spartans, so I'm a SHS fan.
very cool. as you can probably tell...i grew up in the neighborhood too. went to SHS. moved back...my kids and my sister's kids go to elementary schools that will ultimately feed in to SHS. there's a ton of that repopulation of these neighborhoods by those who grew up in them.
wow. i guess you can consider it an upset. i wanted to see guff hurdle someone or do something spectacular.
Now I'm not so sure it was an upset. I had no idea Stratford's defense was that good. They have two kids on their D-line that are really impressive. Last night was probably the toughest test on the Spartans' schedule this season. I'm guessing they win district again...and may end up being undefeated going into the playoffs. Cy Fair didn't miss a beat without McGuffie. The kid who is his backup hits the hole faster than he does. Really a fun game to be at. So strange to see such a media presence at a high school football game, though.
that's true...i haven't. when i was in 8th grade, stratford went to the state finals. when i was in 9th grade, they went tot he state semis. i remember lots of local attention. but televising the first game of the season is a bit...different.
I remember going to a Cy Creek game my first year in college when Sam Adams was there. That place was packed and Adams must have had 20 tackles. The other team (Cy-Farm) just couldn't block him. I went to an Odessa Permian game in Odessa a few years ago. The team busses had a police escort to the stadium. There were people in campers with "MOJO" painted on them tailgating. There were several TV station vans in front of the stadium. The radio station had a pre-game show (with coach interviews) as well as a post-game call in show. This wasn't even a playoff game. It might not have even been a district game.
All in all a very good game. Both teams fought hard and Luck made just enough plays for SHS to win.....I hope McGuffie will be all right, he is very good...the FB (Cobb) for Cy-Fair is a stud. It doesn't get much easier for Stratford as next week they face Elsik and their phenom RB Jeremy Hills.
I might be in the minority, but I really don't think McGuffie will amount to anything at Michigan. I'm not impressed. I'm waiting for him to try the "hurdle" against Ohio State or Penn St. He'll get killed.
wow...i was wrong. elsik gave stratford everything they could handle. they were winning 21-7 at half. stratford came back and won 35-28. whew
so stratfords the real deal then possibly. last night, cy-falls came back from way down to beat #5 in the state Westfield. Cy-Falls will be playing Cy-Fair on ESPN.
just might be. luck had a really bad night, from what i can tell on the chron's website...and they still put up 35 points.
Dude are you talking about Graham and Michael Gibson? Hahahah I play against them everyday in practice. I play the same position as Graham and I go up against Michael in practice. Unfortunately Michael hasnt been doing too good in practice and appears only to be starting because Will Swenson the regular starter is hurt but will be coming back soon. But he deserves a break anyway since hes a sophomore, he'll be real good soon. Graham is damn good, its like hitting a wall playing against him. Not someone, I was at the game and 5 Cy-Fair people puked and our stud D-linemen Jimmy Burge puked also(granted he did have a steak right before the game ). Cy Fair was throwing up yellow chunks all night and getting injured left and right.
He did It was so awesome, he tried to hop over our linebacker Marshall Hughes and totally got denied. I thought McGuffie broke his back on that play.
