So your issue is being a legal citizen is not enough, you have to be here for ...(undefined) years and assimilate, speak only English, watch Fox news, eat at IHOP, get a lifted pickup...what else..?

I just want to make sure I am doing everything I can to be a real 'Murican. Unfortunately I can't change my skin color, so hopefully that's not a requirement.

Just listen to the absurdity of all this.
MAGA acting like it was a national ceremony for our King.
It's a f-king halftime show for a sport. Who performs there is not about who is more Christian, or what the kids can watch, or how American you are.
It's freaking entertainment and they put people on there who gets the most eyeballs and social engagement.

You know what I don't complain about? Who sings at the NASCAR events. because i don't give a fook.
MAGA has become such crybabies but then again that's what their leader's entire persona is. victim mentality. bunch of woke fools maga is.

Nope, the point was the Puerto Ricans in Puerto Rico (key word) will not mostly likely ever be like the Americans in the U.S. They have their own culture, ethnicity etc. Moving to the U.S. and living here will make you more familiar with the American culture than the average Puerto Rican in Puerto Rico, even tho they have the U.S. passports. So yea Hakeem is more American than the average Puerto Rican (in PR) in that sense.

So what would have happened to the citizens of Greenland? Canada?

I think we need a list of things people need to do to become American.

Well, the issue is the United States to MAGA is white people who came here from Europe many many years ago. They opened up shop here.

everyone else is just being tolerated and really needs to go back to wherever they came from.

If he lived there long enough, I'm not sure what the requirements are nowadays, but its fairly easy to get their passport. It used to be almost impossible 20-30 years ago.

Ethnically German? There is a German ethnicity? Germany has only existed for like 150 years. The modern state of Germany is made up of a lot of different cultures and even former countries - it isn't like they all are genetically the same.

So that is part of why it is a complicated issue.

I'm not disputing that, I actually agree, and thats what makes the U.S. great. I think both of y'all are missing the point. Let me try again maybe it'll get through. If the U.S. took over South Korea after the Korean war, made it a U.S. territory, does that make South Koreans (who never set a foot on the U.S. soil), American like someone from Michigan? No, it doesn't. It'll be the same as today, Koreans in South Korea are Koreans, Americans are Americans. Whats so hard about that?

Well they are, there's basically only three types of people in Europe. Germanic (which includes Anglo-Saxons), Romans/Latin (Italians) and Slavs. Even tho of course they're all different today, different countries, languages, cultures, religions etc. But the roots are only basically those 3, who spread out

I believe it's 5 years of legal residence, passing an intermediate language skills exam, and passing a basic civics exam (plus financial requirements that aren't in play wrt him).
