Tari is a clap, clap, clap play harder player. If you’re rolling the ball on the court and saying play he is your best option.
Okogie comes up big on hustle plays quite frequently and is an absolute beast on the defensive end. If his 3 pt shooting wasn’t a marage he’d be playing a much bigger role. Right now he is a valuable defensive stopper off the bench. Great value for 2.2m a year.
Tari is critical to us being competitive this year. He is our most reliable 3 point shooter and it looks to be a permanent skill in my opinion. If we do trade him it is because of injury and contract concerns. If we do trade him, we have to get a reliable 3 point shooter in return or we are punting the season.
Tari is our new PJ Tucker....that is his role, that is what he does well.....just a little different in that he is a much better rebounder. DD
Okogie is our new PJ Tucker. Cardio for 25 minutes. That’s his role & what he does well. Tari is an agent of chaos and you accept the chaos when it’s good and accept the chaos when it’s bad. (Going 1 on 3, missed layups/putbacks, throwing it directly to the other team, dumb wtf fouls)
Tari's rough offense "creation", even with lesser 3pt %, is still better than what Okogie or DFS brings on offense. Its already a changing league than PJ Tucker on MDA Rockets. 2019 Rockets had 6 players averaging over 10 ppg. 4 players over 15 PPG Harden (Harden that absurd 34 PPG) That was plenty enough scoring, for a zero-O intangibles starter Current Rockets also 6 players over 10 ppg, including Tari. 3 players over 18 PPG. But Rockets cant generate enough offense. It's not just about "scoring itself". Its needing that extra player to be a legit scoring threat. Tari at least puts pressure on the d, to kinda add variance to things
Tari has been disappointing as a starter. As in, post All Star break, having near same true shooting % as Finney-Smith The much criticized Jatardi Smith has simply been better. I don't know how Tari would take going back to the bench. But I would support starting Reed with Tari back to his old bench role wrecking other 2nd teamers. Doesn't mean Tari isn't starter worthy, its going with the hot hand starting, slumping hand as a reserve
Nah. As long as he's shooting better than Jabari on the season, he's my starter. This is the definition of a cold spell. You don't abandon a 40% shooter for that. I can see he's overconfidently rushing the shots. He'll bounce back soon.
Reed starting. Tari off the bench. It will interesting to see how Tari shoots it the rest of the way. I think he'll take things up a notch again. Still, I wouldn't be averse to moving him in theright deal this offseason. While integral to winning, I have serious doubts about his ability to stay healthy/on the court.
Tari started the season in the worst way possible, now is only back to above mediocre, how is he commanding a big contract...... Suspect.
I think that Tari with the way our team is constructed is the odd man out of the starters, we need at least 3 shooters to surround Sengun and Amen....so KD, Reed and Bari would be that choice. Then Tari is first one off the bench....if TARI had a good handle and could create for others, he would jump ahead of Jabari. DD
Interestingly, Tari still leads the Rockets in 3pt% for the season. But he dropped from almost 50% in the early part of the season to the current 40.6%. He was a 34% 3p shooter before this season. If he can maintain around 38% by the end of this season, it will be a great improvement. Even with sizzling 3pt shooting, his efficiency is actually worse than last season because he is not getting to the rim as much. His offensive rebounding has also dropped. In other words, he has not been his usual aggressive hustle guy we came to love in the past.
He’s trying to not get hurt so he can get paid this summer. He knows every time he gets hurt again costs him millions
