    Peace is preferable to conflict.

    From CNN
    https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/25/midd...ian-state-is-established-mime-intl/index.html

    CNN —
Some Hamas officials are signaling that the militant group could give up armed struggle against Israel if the Palestinians get an independent state in territories captured by Israel in the 1967 war.

The messaging suggests a softening of Hamas’ position as its fate hangs in the balance with Israel’s pummeling of the Gaza Strip, which Hamas ruled before the war. The Palestinian militant group has long called for the Jewish state to be destroyed.

Basem Naim, an Istanbul-based member of Hamas’ political bureau, told CNN on Thursday that the group would agree to disarm if an independent Palestinian state was established.

“If an independent state with its capital in Jerusalem, while preserving the right of return for refugees, (is created) Al Qassam could be integrated into (a future) national army,” he said, referring to the group’s armed wing.

Hamas has traditionally rejected a two-state solution that would see a Palestinian state established alongside Israel and has instead advocated the creation of a Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine that today encompasses Israel, the occupied West Bank, occupied East Jerusalem and Gaza.

There would obviously have to eb a lot of details to be ironed out and definite steps for accountability to both sides.

Yeah right, this is like WWE wrestling when two bros are about to shake hands, and then the heel dude jumps in the ring with a steel chair and hits them over the head.

The goal of Hamas is to destroy Israel.

You see the Crips and Bloods living next door ? Nah breh, drive bye every day

I don’t know what to make of this proposal. It could be a sign that Hamas is starting to really fear for its survival or it could be a cynical move by putting forward a proposal that they know won’t be accepted.

I'm not sure it's exactly a proposal, yet. It looked like some members were open to making that proposal. I'm not sure which members at which level.

lol comeon who would believe these pieces of ****.

They have made a 2 state solution impossible with their disgusting actions

Also, after what Israel did it is impossible for any Gazans to forget, there is just no way now. They literally uncovered a mass grave with 300+ women and children (the CF neo nazis were screaming in joy)

the graves were done by Gazans, but don't let facts get in the way of the Islamist brainwashing media you consume

    4 APRIL 2024 - OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN TERRITORY

OVER 2% OF GAZA’S CHILD POPULATION KILLED OR INJURED IN SIX MONTHS OF

RAMALLAH, 4 April 2024 –Nearly 26,000 children – or just over two percent of Gaza’s child population - have been killed or injured in Gaza in six months of a war which has decimated the health system and severed access to education, Save the Children said.

In the six months since the 7 October attacks in which 33 children were killed, more than 13,800 children have been killed in Gaza and 113 in the West Bank, and over 12,009 children have been injured in Gaza and at least 725 children in the West Bank, according to OCHA and the Ministry of Health in Gaza. UNICEF reported at least 1,000 children have had one or both legs amputated, and about 30 out of 36 hospitals have been bombed, leaving only 10 partially functioning.

Israeli forces have also hit ambulances, medical aid convoys and access roads, decimating Gaza’s health system and undermining access to healthcare at the time when the 1.1 million children in Gaza need it most.

Hamas can disarm and disappear. They can keep their lives, but they cannot have any political power.

That doesn't really sound like disarming. If Palestine had a state, it would have an official army, and the Hamas fighters would all be citizens in good standing who can enlist in this army and be armed. Just instead of fighting for a political party, they'd fight for a nation-state. And maybe they'd use more conventional and less terroristic tactics.

Sounds like a realistically modest proposal. If Palestine had statehood, that's probably what would happen anyway. I doubt their rejection of a two-state solution was always serious anyway. It's an opening posture for a negotiation, so that you have something you're willing to give up in a compromise. I think Netanyahu's rejection of a two-state solution might be more ideological and intractable. He knows Israel is strong enough to take everything, so why would he concede anything? If he can keep this Palestine question in limbo long enough, the settlers will achieve a de facto victory on the ground by occupying the space.
