Closers usually have the most high pressure high leverage situations in sports. They are supposed to shut down the opposing teams top 3 or 4 hitters, with the game on the line, and with said players already in full gear mode. Closers come into each of their games, cold and have to reach a zenith of performance, and they know they have zero to almost no room for a mistake.

Just a reminder, last seasons Pressly was basically perfect in the pressure cooker of the playoffs. He just came on in the 8th with 2 guys in base to face one of mlbs best left hand hitters with no outs in a **** show enivorment of a benches clearly brawl to get a 6 out win and save* his own game. If he is trash them every reliever the Astros have ever had should be tarred and feathered. Ryan is the best post season closer the Astros have ever had.

Thank our lucky stars you knee jerk low baseball IQ guys aren't calling the shots.

Sorry everyone I can't sleep, was laying here watching every youtube video on the Astros great win and noticing nobody realized what Pressly did and it brought to my mind this dumb ass thread.

Holder of most postseason saves without a blown postseason save can never be 'trash' despite everything. He has earned some respect.

Never forget a champion. Regardless where he goes this, or after this season.

I’m forever grateful for Ryan. My team ****ing sucked for most of my life and Ryan locked **** down as part of a run I would never have dreamed of as a kid. Man should never have to pay for a drink in this city.

Ditto, Dude was absolute nails in 2022 and brought another glorious chip to the city. For obvious reasons 2022 was as important as one could ever be. I personally was suspicious with the Hader acquisition and found it very “Craneish”. Replace your MR you lost, even maybe a starter. Maybe I’m dead wrong and RP is gassed but I think there maybe some mental gymnastics occurring……

Yes, because his historic excellence for us over multiple postseasons, when the stakes were the highest, has been negated by a rough April so far.

What joke. Recent bias at its worst.

He's definitely not trash. His stuff still looks good, hopefully luck will start bouncing Houston's way soon.

You guys read things too literally and too much into things at times.
Maybe I was just bumping the thread to see what the responses would be?

    Carry on...

    Responses were given.

An old thread calling Pressly "trash" was bumped with a sentiment that wasn't exactly in disagreement.

News flash: the sky isn't always falling

Pressly has always been prone to some bad spells, and honestly he hasn't started out seasons great in the past. Last year he had a couple of games early where he gave up multiple runs, in 22 he gave up multiple runs twice in his first 5 outings

After those first 4 games this year he has a 2.32 ERA and 18 K in 11 2/3 innings

I don't think we are dealing with a guy who is "in a funk because he was demoted" or any of that crap. He had a few bad outings to start the year, and around here when people get down on you it takes a long time for them to get back on your side

Relief pitching will always be magnified when you have a bad outing also

I know this, if this team makes a comeback and gets into the post season, and Ryan Freaking Pressly take the hill in a leverage situation, i'll feel damn good about it
