Illinois is a scoring machine vs the great Iowa State defense Illini look really good so far, I had no idea they were this good
Is this the same ISU that beat Houston by 28 pts? Doesn’t look like it. Illinois looks like they are going to play UConn.
They aren’t playing at “home.” Like Kansas on the road,..that’s always a thing in college hoops but wow was it pronounced this year
Every team I wanted to win today...lost. Let's hope Friday games are a bit different: Marquette, Purdue, Houston, Creighton
As fate would have it two of the three refs that butchered our game against Aggy reffed the ISU Illinois game. Lee Cassell and Kipp Kissinger went to work and gave ISU basically the same treatment they gave us. First they neutered Hassan Ward much like they did Francis in our game. He ended up fouling out playing only 12 minutes with zero points. Francis like numbers in the Aggy game. Thanks to the refs ISU's other two bigs King and Jones were in foul trouble all night and each finished with 4 fouls apiece. Is this a coincidence? Who knows. ISU just did not look like themselves all night. They missed a bunch of easy shots. Their best player IMO Momcilovic ony took 4 shots missing them all and finished with one point. Though not in foul trouble he only played 24 minutes. Clearly not himself for some reason. Hated to see ISU's season end this way. They were the better team that to some extent got jobbed by the refs and made enough of their own mistakes to lose in the end.
Gonna enjoy this game tn, but damn how are we gonna replace Shead next year. Last few years have been special, I’m sure the culture will still be great, but it’s hard to imagine having a better opportunity next year.
there's no replacing him. probably goes down as the best pg from start to finish KS will have. but KS has found good pieces in the portal. I'm pretty excited about Mercy. not sure if he's going to be given the keys as a true freshman (will be rare under KS) but if he does, it just means he's earned it
Purdue vs. UConn in the title game. Looks inevitable now. Tragic ending for UH. I remember injuries like Shead experienced. The pain is brutal and recovery is slow. He wouldn't have been ready for Sunday. UH fought to the end, but it was disappointing that some of the supporting cast didn't really shine in the end. I.kept waiting for Sharp to find the range. Didn't happen. Cryer and Roberts gave it their all, but not enough support from others.
